Sunday Afternoon
By Mike Yates
It's a quiet Sunday afternoon
But I know it has to end too soon,
Lying in a sunny field with you
Talking of things we once knew.
As we sit and laugh and talk all day
Our eyes meet and we both stare
And I reach out to hold your hand
And you answer with a smile;
But your smile soon begins fade
And our dreams of love decay
And so you leave for grass fields
Leaving me here with myself.
Now as I stand here at the door
Like so many times before
Can't help but wonder weather you are
And why you had to go so far
Just a quiet Sunday Afternoon
But for me it cannot and too soon
I know I'll never be with you
But you know I'll never forget you.
