With SIMILIA all you have to do is choose from the list of books that are contained in your personal electronic library, choose the remedy and SIMILIA will instantly open up the book for you at that point. Moving between remedies is easy - all you do is click the mouse on a different remedy! The text displayed contains italics, bold and the full use of colour to present information in an attractive way. Finding Words SIMILIA lets you type in a word or two and find every entry that matches what you type in. And when doing this SIMILIA searches ALL OF THE BOOKS IN YOUR LIBRARY AT THE SAME TIME! This is called the Easy Search. What could be easier than that? It is so easy to find what you are looking for! Every book and remedy having an entry matching your search words is shown down the left side of the screen and the paragraphs of text that contain your search word(s) is shown on the right. Following a search SIMILIA initially shows you only those paragraphs that contain your search criteria to draw these to your attention. This approach is far superior than having to scroll down huge amounts of remedy text looking where your search words are. If you do wish to browse the full text of the remedy you can do so easily with just a click of the mouse. SIMILIA is flexible enough to allow you to vary the font and size of text displayed. This lets you create the working environment in SIMILIA that suits you best. And when you are ready to move onto more advanced searching SIMILIA is waiting to help! In addition to the standard search approach of finding all entries that match all your search words SIMILIA will let you find words using an either/or criteria and will even let you specify words that are not to be found giving you a truly powerful search engine. So you could easily ask SIMILIA to find you every entry that has Fear AND Dogs OR Cats OR Insects but NOT Spiders! You can instruct SIMILIA to restrict searching to single books or even to certain classes of books (e.g. search only philosophy books) Synonyms A really useful feature provided in SIMILIA is the comprehensive list of synonyms and cross references it contains. All you need do is click the appropriate box and each time SIMILIA searches it will automatically find all cross-references to the words you typed in. With this feature you do not have to be so precise about your search words and you will often be delighted with the results SIMILIA displays for you! If you are not sure whether a word you wish to use is contained in any book, SIMILIA provides a lookup facility in which you can browse all of the words used in SIMILIAs indexes. Bookmarks SIMILIA lets you place a book mark against any paragraph of text displayed. You can build up sets of bookmarks and relate them together under a specific theme. Later you can retrieve these bookmarks and quickly move between the entries you made. This is especially useful if you are preparing assignments, lecture notes or if you simply want to link together various remedies and authors for later reference. You could even use SIMILIA in this way in conjunction with an overhead projector as the basis of a presentation of materia medica or philosophy to a class! Annotations Ever been at a lecture and heard some new information on a remedy? Some people scribble the information into the margin of their books - with SIMILIA you can add the information directly into your computer system! With SIMILIA you can add your own thoughts and ideas and even cases by annotating any of the books in your library and any of the remedies in those books. Finishing Touches SIMILIA lets you mark a piece of text and copy it to the Windows clipboard so that you can transfer the information into your other Windows software (e.g. Word processor). This can be especially helpful if you are preparing lecture notes or assignments. You can also print out any text marked in this way.
