Curriculum Vitae

 

I am currently at the Open University Malaysia (OUM) as a part-timer teaching the Sarjana Muda Perguruan (SMP) students

My research interest is mainly within the Malay language studies especially in the field of language usage and Malay Semantics. My Ph.D dissertation entitled Science Terms in Science:The Aspect of Capability (in Malay Language), submitted at University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur on March 2001 has been approved in February 2002 and received my doctorate at the Convocation in Sept 2002. My Master thesis is entitled Langauge Register; A Linguistic Analysis of Form 2 Textbooks (in Malay Language), which has been published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, 1995 under the title Laras Bahasa Ilmiah (Academic Language Register)

Besides that I have published a book discussing the problems of Malay Language usage under the title Beberapa Persoalan Penggunaan Bahasa Melayu dan Penyelesaiannya (Some Issues in the Use of Malay Language and Ways to correct it ) the first issue published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka in 1994.My other 2 books are Pendekatan dan Teknik Pendidikan Melayu (2000) dan Makna dalam Bahasa Melayu (2001) have also been published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. The first book discusses the issue of approaches and techniques in the teaching of Malay, while the other books look at some aspects of meanings in the Malay Language.
