MISTAKES
You say its a horrible mistake;
but, mistakes are inevitable, and, anyway
I can easily be deceived into believing
that I am merely passing through
this library's reading room,
which to you is only filled with yourselves.
For years now you have been,
at my expense, trying to "correct"
this situation, and now motes
dance in the moonlight, as the room
is reclaimed by particle physics
in free association released from the rigidity
of certain people's particular arrangements.
So it is now, when most of you
are already buried in sleep
that my recalcitrance resurfaces,
or perhaps its really the reverse,
and has nothing to do with
the universality of vanity, or solipsism.
Think of the emptiness of that room-
the tumultuous silence thundering
through the stacks, where particles
collide with the still gleaming surfaces
of my synapses. Remote from the dirty hands
eager to eradicate them.
The first to realize it was Democritus
though Lucretius expressed it better:
before you can comprehend the void
you need to understand from and matter.
So what if we're asked to sacrifice,
just consider it a dress rehearsal.
The dark ermine night
has long since descended,
images from T.V. flicker over the walls,
advertisements blindly stare up,
from a pile of magazines
resting on furniture featureless with familiarity,
where clothes, and haircuts, and cars
all combine to blur our personal identity.
Humility is a false virtue, in society
hypocritically necessary-
for merit readily recognizes itself,
as we fade into the oblivion
of a mass consumer culture.
NOT ALWAYS
Your not always remote and preoccupied,
sometimes we still make love.
There are times when you come to me,
softly, softly, softly like the fading light at twilight.
The tip of your tongue moistens your rose red lips.
I rarely can kiss anymore.
Your dark, dancing eyes
are illuminated by a mysterious moon.
My dearest friend, my resolute opponent,
what sweet blessings your every gesture brings.
Your small spritely steps scatter stars and flowers
through the desert of my heart.
How can they blossom there?
And, why do they shine so bright?
I've lived with you for many years,
why why is there so little love left in the World?
THE ENDLESS PARADE
Of the endless parade of lost souls
who live their lives as contemporary Christians
can anyone reasonably explain
the abominations that they confront the World with?
When they parade down the streets
that lie beneath the very gates of heaven
one suddenly notices that as they flagellate
themselves with their cruel persecutions
birds fall from the sky, flowers wither,
and everything dies that they touch.
Like the paths of the flagellants in the plague
afflicted 13th century, they leave behind
them a path of putrefaction. And if
you touch them then it seems as if
you become forever infested with their pestilence.
This horror belongs to the Inquisition, the Holocaust
the era of witch hunts not the 21 first century.
They are artlessly resolute and defiant
in their pride and power. They set out to save the World
and settle on selling Christ for pleasure and profit instead.
All this is done, with self-serving reassurances,
piously for the sake of children; and, then
these people, without further ceremony,
turn themselves into well paid Judases and Jezebels,
who, in their delusions, pretend it's virtue.
Tonight, as I write this appeal to the common sense
of those individuals whose innate goodness and decency
remain intact, I wish to remind them that in spite of everything
God loves them, and to let them know
that they have all my prayers and best wishes.
TO LOOSE ONESELF
Ah, to loose oneself,
just for one instant,
in the eternal now.
See the Sun set,
the sky a boiling sea of red.
Oh, how wonderful Nature is
in the radiant twilight,
so intensely beautiful.
and so totally indifferent
to our fate.
Nature, the scene
of our birth and our death.
THE VOICE OF SILENCE
The voice of silence echoes like thunder,
it fills the rooms with the vast silence of the tomb;
dense blackness, immense and brutish,
skulks in a darkened doorway;
something sinister seems to be lurking
around the corner just out of sight.
The vague pictures that watch from the walls
are blurry and strangely out of focus.
A small part of a window can be seen
though nothing is visible through it
but a naked opacity; it looks like a blind eye.
Across the room sits a faded and melancholy couch,
empty and full of longing.
A floor-lamp-beacon castes its dim light feebly around the room,
past shadows that cling to everything, in sticky decrepit spider webs
that hang in a fine fabric of black crepe.
All objects have the air of rigid immobility,
an omniscient sense of the eternal isolation.
Its not as though these things
become stupefied by the presence of man;
but, rather, its stupid man
who can not fathom all of these things.
CONSUMPTION
I feel as though I were being devoured,
like a comb of golden honey
that is eaten for its sweet delicious taste;
while, in the garden children,
with little dancing feet,
destroy the fragile flowers,
tearing their blossoms and crushing their roots.
TO BECOME AWARE
Be sure to become aware
of the infamous sect, the radical right;
observe how the villainy conceived by some,
joined with the folly received by others
work to establish the perfidy of their belief-
in spite of virtue's primary allies
reason, justice and equality.
POLITICAL VIOLENCE
Above the thin remains
of barren trees
a burnished gold ball,
the Sun rolls through empty space-
dark day, blind sight, living dead
impoverished souls, sorrows witness.
The West Hill's cemeteries
bear mute witness
to the Earth's shame,
graves solace usurped,
brief abstract of dreary days.
Were you asleep or careless Lord,
when the wolves ravaged your flock?
QUICKLY, TIME SENDS
Quickly, time sends man's vainglorious fate to an end.
The wolves in sheeps' clothes devour the rest.
See how fate, suddenly strikes all.
What happens when we're dead,
when we're no longer under the close scrutiny of public opinion;
the conflict of interests,
the struggle of greed vrs. greed
which compel people to hide their dirty laundry,
the sanguinary revelation that one makes,
to assuage their own consciences;
when the greatest rewards spring from deceiving others,
and result in people deceiving themselves,
for in such instances one spars oneself shame,
which is a painful experience,
and hypocrisy, which is the most hideous vice?
But, in death, what a difference, what relief.
What freedom, to disregard, at long last,
the make-up and costumes that restrict one,
to honestly state what one was, stripped of pretence,
and unfold our self like some rare and exotic flower.
ESSAY POST ELECTION DILEMMA
Rumor Mill suggests:
The election is over; however, certain important considerations
must be successfully resolved, if the integrity of the process is to remain
intact. First, the problem of the ballots that were deliberately
designed to confuse the voters for either V.P. GORE or Buchanan.
Second, the problem of the many ballots that have not yet been counted.
Third, the problem of the many ballots that need to be manually recounted
so that the intent of the voter can be determined. Fourth, the fraudulently
filled out military ballots from over seas. Five, the alleged improprieties
by Florida's official in charge of election, whose partisan antics included
trying to railroad through incomplete election results and preventing local
election boards from recounting all of the citizens' ballots in a timely
fashion. This is but a partial listing of the potential fraud facing
the Presidential election.
The important thing that confronts America is not who wins, even
though that is extremely important. What is at stake is the fate
of Democracy. Do all American's have the right to vote and have their
votes count in a free election. Or, will the American people be defrauded
out of a fair election. Due process takes time. The fate of
the integrity of our system of free elections that form the foundation
for our Democratic institutions is at risk. This is America, we should
proceed deliberately and with all due haste to make sure all Americans'
votes are counted. To do less cheats us out of our rights and violates
the trust we have with our forefathers and with our children for generations
to come. Let it not be said that we were not up to the great task.
It is Rumor Mill's opinion that not only should all votes be
carefully recounted, but, because of the fraudulently designed ballots
for freedom and justice to be served, in the county in question, a new
election should be held. To do less merely measures uncertainty or
worse the effectiveness of fraud.
Rumor Mill now would like for you to consider the following hypothetical
scenario. All that would be necessary to steal a close election like
the one we just experienced is the following:
1) to know what the recount rate would be in favour of V.P. Gore
(they have observers at every table of the recount);
2) to know the number of absentee votes form the military and
the ratio of those votes for Republican candidates (80%);
3) to know the psychological profile of the various judges on
Florida's supreme court, as well of the court's collective profile and
social dynamics(this could be obtained by a variety of ways i.e. court
clerks, or attorneys who have had cases before the court, or research decisions
made by the court etc.;
4) to utilize subliminal technologies on one or two judges so
that, under the guise of fairness or compromise, military ballots not received
on time would be counted, too, to compensate for the V.P. Gore advantage
in the recount process.
The other thing is to prevent at any cost a "fair" revote, because,
there the R.R. Republican would loose. The election could be stolen
without anyone knowing it not the judges, not the Democrats, and not the
public. Rumor Mill, is not saying this occurred, it does not know;
however, there is the technology, there is the motive, and there is the
inclusion in the recount of the unrequested by any parties in the dispute
to include the late military ballots. Whether it happened or not
we can not say; but, it is enough for the potential for this kind of temptation
to abuse our Democratic system to exist, to warrant strong and decisive
measures to be taken to protect our sacred Democratic institutions from
such foul and fraudulent abuse.
