Learning The Spiritual Way

Spiritual Guidance Counselor:

You are your own priest, minister, or emissary to your God. No one person is closer to their source than another. Each of us is equally sacred.

You have the authority to claim your spiritual inheritance. You have the spiritual authority to plan your spiritual ceremonies, rituals, prayers and meditations that honor your God.

This doesn't mean a teacher or two won't come into your life because once you are on the path they will come. It means don't let anyone fool you into believing you need them to open the doors for your spiritual enlightenment. Don't let them fool you into believing they are higher evolved than you or that you should follow their every thought or idea.

Spirituality has no need for control. God doesn't control you, you have free will. Why then would he send an emissary to control you?

Take care not to go from one guru to another, joining each new fad hoping to find what you already possess. It is yours to remember, it is your inheritance.

Know when a teacher has entered your life and listen carefully. Learn yes, study yes, and hear with your heart. Spiritual teachers come in a variety of forms, from a child to a sage. It is what you learn that's important. A didactic teacher is a teacher of a different sort. They teach the principles, they impart the knowledge.

A spiritual teacher is a guide who leads you to your own awareness. He doesn't tell you what your awareness is. That is the mark of a good teacher, they won't do it for you, but will guide your attempts. They will support you until you are sure of yourself. They will also learn from you.

Here is a story that my help you begin your journey.

The following Is an analogy, a story if you will, that describes the journey of Remembrance.

In the beginning the grand scheme was simple. Man developed and the grand scheme became lost, distorted, complicated. Now man must change it.

The Valley Meets the Mountain

Let's imagine there is a mountain standing alone in a vast desert valley. One day the valley below the mountain realized that though they had lived side by side for eons, no part of the mountain was actually with-in the Valley. The valley decided to speak to the mountain about this, "Mountain, we have lived side by side for eons. Though we are so close we know little about each other. Would you mind if I asked you a question? I would like to know how it feels to reach to the sky."

The mountain, surprised by the Valleys sudden interest, replied, "I understand your curiosity. I too, have thought about you often. I can not say how it feels to reach the sky because this is who I am". After careful thought the Mountain added, "Perhaps I can give you a part of me and you will know how it feels to reach the sky, but if I give you a part of me what will you do for me in return?

The Valley was overwhelmed by the offer but felt in his heart that he had little to offer and in a small voice answered, "Mountain, I do not know how to return to you that part of you which you are willing to give to me. But Mountain, I would be filled with gratitude for the experience and I will cherish your beauty in my heart forever."

After eons of contemplative thought the Mountain finally answered, "Valley, perhaps you can return that part to me if you allow each person who crosses your beautiful path, on their way to climb me, to acquire from you a bit of what you have of me. In that way you can experience what it feels like to reach the sky. And those that cross you in their pilgrimage to reach my peak will experience not only you, but also me through you. However, they will not be aware that they have experienced both of us."

"Mountain, I love you so much that I will be happy to do this. Every time some one treads across me on their way to you I will give them something of you." An awareness crept into his mind and he said, "We will work together! I will quietly and softly share a part of your beauty with everyone who crosses my path, whether they are able, on their own, to reach your peak or not.

Grinning broadly the mountain shook and quivered and in all the shaking, with a final roar, scattered many parts of itself across the valley floor.

The Valley gratefully absorbed the essence of the mountain, and to his surprise began to feel the experience of the Mountains truth and grandeur.

Soon, in a quiet and unassuming way, the mountain and valley became one. "Valley," the Mountain called one day, "we have become one in our experience." And with a sigh, but no shaking added, "We hold each other truly in our hearts."

So the Valley and Mountain lived together in beauty and harmony for many, many eons. Respecting and honoring each other, until one day when a group of men came to mine the rock on the Mountain.

Sadly, the Mountain was abused and raped of its beauty little by little. The miners took pieces of the mountain to sell at a certain price to all of mankind but failed to notice the intrinsic beauty of the piece they had stolen. Not one man could see the majesty of the whole mountain, he saw only his piece, a distortion of the majestic mountain and felt none of the love and kinship of the Valley.

It wasn't long before the people began to believe that the piece they held in their hand was the whole mountain. Each one tried to convince the other that his rock was the whole mountain.

Each believing that they possessed the whole mountain, it wasn't long before fighting began among the people.

In the desert, the Valley and the Mountain were filled with sadness for the people. They knew the people had lost sight of the truth and could no longer see the Mountain nor experience the beauty of the Valley.

After many discussions they came to realize that they felt responsible for the actions of the people, but they did not know what to do. Sadness filled their hearts.

Finally they decided on a plan and sent a clarion call out to all the people who had lovingly crossed the Valley and remembered the vision of the Mountain . They would ask for help.

The Valley and the Mountain concentrated very hard, they prayed, they meditated and they decreed. Then one day when all was still they heard the footsteps of the people answering the call. The same people who held the vision and had seen and experienced their beauty came back to the Mountain.

After many eons of quite contemplation together the Mountain sent all the people, who had answered the call, back into the world with the knowledge of remembrance. They would show the people of the world that they had lost sight of the beauty, harmony, truth and experience of the Mountain and the Valley.

Many did not hear and crucified the people for their sacrilege to the rocks. But, some of those who remembered survived.

Those who survived came together in secret to remember the mountain. Their numbers grew and they developed a broader understanding in their hearts. The wisdom of the Valley and the Mountain was remembered and shared.

When the time came, those who lived in the remembrance shared with the people their love, knowledge and teachings of the Mountain and Valley in all their actions, thoughts, words and deeds. They joyfully shared the beauty, harmony, love and experience of the remembrance and of the oneness.

And more eons have passed -- and the Valley and the Mountain continue to live together in harmony. They are very grateful to those who remember. They offer the harmony of love, illumination and mastery to all the people of the earth.

Time is drawing near, shall you answer the clarion call of the Mother and share your remembrance of the Valley and the Mountain. Begin each day remembering.
