Misconceptions
Perhaps the greatest misconception about Freemasonry is that one has to be invited. It is the opposite. Those who want to become Freemasons are required to ask to join. In fact, it is constitutionally improper for Freemasons to solicit new members. However, we can ask people to ask.

More Misconceptions
Unfortunately, people perceive that Freemasonry is exclusive. It is the opposite. Anyone is welcome to become a Freemason. There are Women's Masonic Lodges, although they are separate from the more widely know Freemasonry. The qualifications for membership are sound morals and being of a mature age (over 21.)

Goats
I have yet to see a goat in a Masonic Lodge. In 1993, when I was first Installed as a Worshipful Master by MBWro Maj Gen Frank Poke I asked him, 'is this where the goat comes in?' He replied, 'not tonight'. My guess is that the goat thing started when someone read GAOTU in a Masonic ritual book. Leo Taxil, the french pornographer created a great hoax that included goats and strange procedures. He revealed his hoax ten years later, but his hoax has been quoted by many 'authorities' of deamonic masonic activities.
