このあいだ、昔大好きだった天才靴デザイナー熊谷登喜夫についてWEBで検索してみた。そうしたら、無残にも結果は限りなく０に近い状態。引っかかってきたサイトに行ってみても、彼に関する記述はほとんどない。ただどこかのデザイナーが、昔熊谷登喜夫のもとで働いていた・・というようなものがあっただけで。こんなことって、あるんだろうか。。パリで日本人靴デザイナーとして初めて成功し、革新的靴デザイナーと呼ばれた熊谷登喜夫。あんなにすばらしい靴を作っていたのに、今ではほとんど誰にも振り向かれないなんて。。
Some years ago, I tried to google my favorite Japanese shoe designer Tokio Kumagai. The result was almost "zero"... The only sites that mentioned him just briefly said "where he was from" or said about "a designer who used to work for Tokio Kumagai" or... I was disappointed and wondered why this happened? Tokio Kumagai acquired fame and success in Paris as the first Japanese shoe designer in 1980's, and was called one of the most innovative shoe desingers. I wonder why nobody has interest in such a brilliant person like him anymore?
