Tiger Lily

Tiger Tiger of the night,
rules it's world, rules with fright.
Tiger Tiger of the day,
instills a sense of fear in prey.
Tiger crouching in the weeds,
has no mercy on what he sees.
Slowly moving, barely walking,
scarcely seen but clearly stalking.

Legs are bent, back in hunched,
mouth is wet with the taste of lunch.
Eyes are fixed, pure concentration;
even trees feel anticipation.

In the bush, just yards ahead,
an animal will soon be dead.
But currently, it's unaware
of the tiger's constant stare.

Muscles flinch, the tiger flies,
trees turn away to avert their eyes.
Right on target, he digs his paws,
he holds it down, here come the jaws.
