Xenath's Cavern

Ducking into the dimly lit corridor you wait for your eyes to adjust. It takes a minute due to the extreem contrast from Grinta's Lair. How, you wonder, can this be part of the same dwelling. You hear laboured breathing comming from the far corner of the room. Walking towards it you realize just how large this cavern is, you could easily stand three tall men on eachothers shoulders before reaching the celing... quite a contrast from the entrance to this dark arena.

Searching the room for the source of the breathing you are startled when a large flame erupts on the wall.

"Yes, I did that." A low, humble voice states. Your eyes come to rest on the smallish lonely figure against the wall near the flame. "Why have you come here? Have you come to gawk at me? The foolish dragon who chose a bondmate who cared not to be chosen." You hear Grinta's voice in your head {Please, judge him not harshly. He is very alone, and needs time to heal.}

"I'm sorry. Please forgive me, I care not to cause you any anxiety. I should be grateful to my dear Grinta, she and her bondmate, Tobi~Dawne, have taken great pains to make me feel at home... but I am still filled with grief. My heart shall never heal, not completely."

The blue dragon offers you a genuine smile. "Please, come and sit by my side. It is so nice to have companionship. I have not common graces to offer you, but my friendship is here should you need it." You sit with the dismal dragon, and stroke his soft, scalely side. You can hear a low grumbling sound from within the little dragon, almost as if he were puring. You offer him a smile and continue to rest with him. "Many blessings to you, thank you for your warm touch and gentil smile, both go far to provide me with a small sence of comfort. Your presence means much. Feel free to come and go as you please within my adoptive home." With those last words the tired dragon returns to his dreams.

Xenath was one of many from his clutch that had been abandoned. He may never heal from this broken heart. The one person whom he trusted with his life betrayed him.
Xenath is such a kind, caring dragon, it hurts me so to see him hurt so badly. Hopefully he will mourn for a time, but then grow to see that he is surrounded by love. It may take many years, but with patience and the greatest gift we can give him, our trust, he will become well, and joyful.

Never abandon a dragon!
