Welcome to Grinta's Lair

"Brightest blessings. I am so pleased to be able to welcome you here. I wasn't sure if this here was actually going to come about. You see, I was on a waiting list for a chance to bond with a hatchling from a dragons clutch. There were 39 candidates for bonding, but only 34 eggs, so obviously some people's hearts would be broken. Thank the fae that Grinta choose me." **smile** {Can I introduce myself now?} Grinta's jovial voice can be heard in your mind. **laughing** "Grinta is an empath, only two from her clutch were, so I consider myself to be very lucky." {Merry Meet, I'm Grinta. Tobi, you can call her Tobi~Dawne, is my chosen. I can tell your wondering why I chose her over someone else... well, she had such hope, and her eyes were full of nothing but kindness. She needed me, and I needed someone too. She does not put her faith in trickery, manipulation, greed, or deceit, she is honest, and her soul was naked to me. I knew here I would be believed in and loved.} **smiling I send a rainbow into Grinta's thoughts** "Thank you"

The story of how we bonded is found below, it's a long one, but it makes me happy.

The Candidates filed slowly onto the sands, all of them nervous and hesitant, hoping beyond hope that they'll be one of the lucky few to Bond a dragon, and yet terrified of the disappointment of not getting one. Their hearts pounding, they step out onto the scorching sands and form a ring around the pile of 34 eggs. 34 eggs, 39 Candidates, that means 5 people going home without a dragon.

A roar echoes around the immense chamber and all eyes turn to Rinmaroth as she flutters her wings and tosses her head in an agitated manner. Jalanoth flies in and lands besides her, enfolding her in one of his large wings. She tries to shake loose and moves as if she's going to pounce on those Candidates nearest her when Rinmara walks into the chamber with a fierce glare for the angry Queen and a comforting smile for each of the Candidates. Rinmaroth ducked back beneath her mate's wing and glowered at the Candidates.

Just then there was a fierce Crack from the center of the sands and a tiny red hatchling pushed his way through his shell, crying piteously. He stared out at the Candidates, blinking his eyes and moaning as he tried desperately to free himself from the shell. Several Candidates rushed forward to help him, hoping this gesture would be enough to Bond the tiny dragon, but he nipped at each hand that tried to help him, until he had done it on his own. He struggled to right himself then once he had his balance he stood tall, surveying everything around him. He glanced back to where Rinmaroth was still wrapped in Jalanoth's wings and chirped, she crooned in response and he dove head-first for Keelan, one of the only Candidates who didn't try to help him. Surprisingly he landed upright and stood tall before her, chirruping quietly. A smile spread across her face as she looked into the tiny red hatchling's eyes. "His name is Granev," she announced to no one in particular, then muttered to herself and the hatchling, "and we'll just have to find ourselves a big beautiful Weyr for you to grow up in!" She smiled as she led her Bondmate out of the way.

Another big Crack sounded and everyone looked up to see a tiny black struggling free of his shell. He moaned and wailed until finally he had freed himself enough to look about and pin his eyes on Kvn. He squawked loudly and Kvn rushed over and broke the rest of the shell away from him, the tiny black squealed in glee and laid his head in Kvn's lap, exhausted by his efforts. Kvn slowly scooped him up and removed him from the hot sands quietly whispering, "It's alright, Jalinth, we'll go get you some food and I'll introduce you to all your new best friends at my site!"

Just then two more eggs started rocking violently and burst open revealing two greens. They stumbled away from the remains of their shells, one going to the right, the other to the left. Suddenly everyone's eyes went wide as one of the greens stood up tall and fluttered her wings and a voice blossomed in everyone's mind, Greetings all! I am Grinta; the other green is Grinte. We are empaths and can speak into the mind of anyone! she turned towards a woman to her right, Greetings, Tobi Dawne, you are to be my Chosen!

The other green squawked loudly and all eyes turned to her. She turned to face a young girl to her left, her voice exploding in everyone's heads in enthusiasm. You're my Chosen, Katie! We're going to have so much fun together! I mean, uh, I'm not as articulate as my sister there, but, well, I'm hungry! Let's get out of here! The little hatchling then fluttered her wings in an agitated manner and rushed for Katie's waiting arms.

Meanwhile several eggs had broken open to reveal tiny dragon hatchlings all tumbling over one another, desperately wanting to approach their Chosen but not wanting to interrupt the sisters' speech. One small blue was bold enough to stagger forward and clutch at Molly's leg. "His name is Osmoth!" she declared and carefully led the unsteady hatchling out of the way. Then there were so many hatchlings grasping at the limbs of their Chosen it was hard to tell who was bonding!

Shouts of joy echoed through the chamber until the din died down. Tamfay Bonded Brown Torgeneth, Caitlin Bonded Bronze Jonlik, LadyIvyElf Bonded Green Seth, DragonWolf Bonded Bronze Oriin, Sonic Bonded Green Tmorin, Fallen Angel Bonded White Kalith, Kristen Bonded Red Embyr, LadySoleria Bonded White Talia, Jessica Dragontamer Bonded Black Xavienth, Chibiusa Bonded Blue Akari, Fallon Bonded White Ryu, Silverzeo Bonded Brown Crescentith, Michelle Bonded Black Mach, Donna Bonded Blue Xenath, AniGriffin Bonded Black Darionath, Susan Bonded Blue Ruthford, Armain Bonded White Liana, Sarafina Bonded Red Renoth, Jen Bonded Black Avenon, zalia14 Bonded Brown Loken, Venus Bonded Blue Krint, Micheal Bonded Black Brinik, Niki Bonded White Kalima, Heather Bonded Red Rossen, Gina Bonded White Kaven, Skysong Bonded Brown Tarinith.

The only eggs that remained on the sand when all the new Bondmates had left were the gold, a bronze and an oddly shaped red. The remaining 8 Candidates all stood dancing back and forth on the hot sands. Suddenly the bronze egg burst open and the hatchling stumbled out. He staggered a bit then headed for the remaining Candidates. Falling down he cried piteously and Tiglyon reached out to help him. "What? . . . You Choose me??? Coo!!! His name is Trintoc!" he said as he helped the hatchling to his feet and led him out the door.

Just then the gold egg started rocking violently. The large Gold stuck her head out through the top and looked around at the remaining Candidates. She pulled free and waddled over towards the Candidates. She stopped a little ways away and curiously peered at each and every one. Then she crooned low in her throat and Helaine stepped forward and knelt before the golden hatchling. The hatchling tilted her head towards Helaine and crooned again, falling into Helaine's lap. "She says her name is Drigra!" Helaine exclaimed in wonder. Then she carefully stood up and led the future queen off of the sands and all the attention turned to the misshapen red egg as it rocked violently back and forth. The remaining Candidates exchanged nervous glances wondering why the little dragon was having such a hard time getting out and why the egg was so misshapen.

Rinmara looked up at Rinmaroth who had escaped Jalanoth's embrace and was very slowly inching towards the egg. "What's wrong with him Rinmaroth?" she asked her dragon as the egg started to rock back and forth more violently. "Why hasn't he broken out yet?" Rinmaroth's eyes clouded over momentarily then a voice could be heard in everyone's mind, They must decide which is to live before they can break free. "You mean there are two dragons in there!?" Rinmara exclaimed in shock. "And one of them has to die before the other can hatch!?" Rinmaroth nodded her head sadly, There is nothing we can do to stop it. Wren stepped forward, "We've got to do something! I'm not going to stand by and watch a baby dragon kill its own twin!" She ran forward and kicked the egg, creating a large hole in one side. She kicked it again and the hole widened revealing two bewildered red dragons. Wren reached into the shell and pulled out first one then the other of the little red hatchlings and set them in the sand. The two of them gazed up at her and looking from one to the other in startlement Wren cried out, "You BOTH Choose me!? And your names are Maram and Mrang? But, BOTH of you?" The little hatchlings looked up at her expectantly and she led them off the hatching sands to get something to eat.

Whew!!! That was quite a hatching! I'm so glad it's finally over and everything can get back to normalaround my site! :o) Well, everyone, I hope you are all happy with your dragons and those of you who didn't Bond this time may come back and try again for the next clutch! :o) Enjoy!
--Rinmara

"It was such an exciting hatching, needless to say, I am thrilled with how everything turned out." **smile** "I realise it was fairly mean of me to ask Grinta to remain hidden from your view for so long, but I love anticipation." **laughing** "Well, here she is!"

Grinta

"Isn't she beautiful, don't you just love her cute little birthmark, it looks rather like a star. She is so wonderful" **hugs Grinta** "I know only good things are going to come from our bonding." {coo}

"Unfortunately not all is well with Grinta's clutch mates. Several had been abandoned, which to a dragon, is a fate worse than death. These hatchlings put their lives into the hands of a human bond mate, and hope for the best. It is disgusting and horrible to think that the person they chose disreguarded them in such a manner. These dragons need extra special care, many of them do indeed die because of this, fortunately, all from Grinta's clutch have been saved. Grinta and I have taken one of these precious babies in. He is resting now, as usual, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind company, but be forwarned, he is in morning, and is still very frail." {Please be kind to him, we love him dearly. Should we hear that you treated him as if he were anything less then perfection... be forwarned, there will be dire consequences} "I'm sorry that we have to issue such a warning, but heed it well."

And, please, if you do bond with a dragon, don't abandon him/her. Stability is very important. {Many of my brothers and sister were left without homes, a broken heart can never be repaired.} It hurts both Grinta and I to know that so many dragons are disreguarded in such a horrible manner. Please, be responsible.
