The purpose of this exercise is to help you recognize and identify leadership characteristics in others, and in yourself. During this exercise, you are going to be paired up with another person for a few minutes. You are going to be given about five minutes to ask questions of this person, so that you can assess his/her leadership talents and ability. The person you are being paired with will also have about five minutes to ask you questions. After both rounds of questioning is over, each of you will introduce the other to the group as “My New, Best Friend.” Your introduction should emphasize the accomplishments and special talents of the person you are introducing and, most of all, their major leadership skills and talents.

Sample Questions:
1. Name?
2. Where are you from?
3. Describe your family (and pets)?
4. Tell me about your best friend.
5. What organizations do you regularly participate in? Offices head? What do you do?
6. What personal accomplishment are you most proud of?
7. What achievement has given you the most public recognition?
8. What is your major goal in life/school?
9. What would you like most to accomplish during the next 2 years? 5 years? 10 years?
10. What would you like most to accomplish during your life?
11. What do you regard has your most endearing personal trait?
12. How would your best friend describe you?
13. How would your worst enemy describe you?
14. How do your reconcile these conflicting descriptions?
15. After you leave Santa Fe, how would you like to be remembered?
16. When you life is over and the Minister/Priest/Rabbi is preparing your eulogy, how would you like to be remembered?
