Place the small glass dish on the hot plate and evaporate all of the water until the bottom of the dish is dry.  Once no water remains, turn off the hot plate.  Take care during this step to avoid heating the water to a point in which water boils aggressively and splashes out of its container.  You do not want to loose your samples.
