"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you
great and unsearchable things you do not know."
Jeremiah 33:3

We serve an amazing God, not a new or striking thought but, one that is being driven home more deeply for me every day right now. As I read through the first half of chapter 33 in Jeremiah this morning I thought about the similarities to what is going on in America right now. Even in destruction God's purposes are creative. In Jerusalem he brought about a physical and a spiritual renewal in that day that the people could not have imagined. We look back today and history proves that God fulfilled his promises. They witnessed what God would do, and the city did bring him praise and honor before the nations. My thoughts turned toward our own country in the last few days; formerly religion, faith and God were the unmentionable/divisive subjects but are fast becoming the things that unify us with people around us. As a country with our 'enemies' around the world and as individuals with our 'neighbors' who were unwilling to discuss spiritual matters before. This is the time for the church to shine, God has made it easy to share our faith, our convictions with people. Never in my life have I heard so much talk publicly by leaders of the country encouraging us to pray and to seek God. I certainly don't know all that God is doing but do believe he has worked out the timing for all this and is using it ultimately to bring people to himself. George Bush may not have been your personal selection for President but the reality is that God is working through him to move our nation spiritually, would another person have responded publicly in such a spiritual fashion? He was raised up 'for such a time as this".. it brought to mind the great need to pray for our leaders and all those in authority as God is working through them right now to move our nation spiritually. God is and will continue to do things through this in our complacent country unlike any of us ever imagined possible... we will continue to be in awe of our incredible God!!
