Today's Glimpse...

September 13, 2001

I will bring them back to this place and let them live in safety.
They will be my people, and I will be their God. I will give them
singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me
for their own good and the good of their children after them.
I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop
doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they
will never turn away from me. I will rejoice in doing them good and
will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.
Jeremiah 32:37b-41

What can you say to or about love like this?? When I consider how grievous their sin was to God it opens my eyes to just how amazing it is. The events of the last few days do just that in an even greater way... I've not been directly or personally affected by the tragedy and yet I feel a righteous indignation, a desire for justice and a sadness for the state of our world. I can't imagine what those who are directly affected by the terrorism feel but it helps me better understand the pain in God's heart when we sin. It opens my eyes to the fact that he is fully justified if he wants to wipe out mankind, or give up on us in some fashion and yet he doesn't!! That isn't his heart. Consistently and repeatedly God gives us another chance, he opens the doors and makes a way for us to be right with him... he promises to never stop doing good to his people and that he rejoices in that!! I'm often lost for words when my understanding of God's love really hits my heart... words will never be enough nor can they even come close.. I want to live a life that expresses my appreciation for what his love has done for me.
