Today's Glimpse...

February 10, 2001

Isaiah chapter 32 continues with prophecy and imagery regarding the forthcoming captivity of God's people and the destruction of Jerusalem. But first they will experience relief. The verses here reference both Hezekiah's and Jesus future reign.

This verse has long been a favorite of mine but in context it is even richer...

The fruit of righteousness will be peace;
the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever. Isaiah 32:17

This promises me that as I keep Jesus Lord and strive to be righteous in my own life then the natural results, what is produces in my life will be peace. Not a promise that external activities are quieted down (no more troubles) but that I will have an inner peace.. displayed by a secure trust in the one who is in control of my life.

as verse 20 says "... how blessed you will be."
