disillutionment. It became very clear that politics was not going to be the answer to our problems.

    Where are we to turn? The answer is not to be found so much in an external solution to man's problems as it is in an internal one. Each of us should take an inventory in our own heart and mind of where we put our trust. Where do we have a sense that there is something secure; on what are we counting, on what are we banking? The test boils down to putting our trust in God. this test will take a different form for each of us. If we are counting on our retirement, Social Security, or investments, then that god is goingo to fail. If we are counting on medical science for our health, then we are going to be tested there, and that god is going to fail us. If we are counting on being a member of the right church, we are going to be tested there. And so each of us will be teste specifically inthose places where we have placed our trust.

    The year of 1910 was a time of testing for Edgar Cayce. He had been working with Dr. Ketchum, who had published an article in the New England Medical Journal. From that article came a lot of publicity from other newspaper articles, resulting in thousands of pieces of mail. To his surprise and dismay, Edgar Cayce found himself both famous and notorious.

    Until fairly recently, the esoteric and metaphysical field was virtually unknown by the average indivual. It was difficult for Cayce to understand how this gift might unfold as a life work which others could understand. He received an enormous amount of criticism and began to question whether or not his ability to give readings was a gift from God. He was all but ready to give it up. the only thing that persuaded him to remain in this field was a reading he had given for Uncle Ike that was so extraordinarily accurate that in following the advice given, his uncle was relieved of great pain.

    Dr. Ketchum had written him a letter saying "We'll set you up in your studio and give you what you need in order for you to give a couple of readings a day. This is going to be your life work."......   CONTINUE
