CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS
February 8, 1992: | The Rosses arrange to present a plaque to the Samaritans/FRNB Board of Directors, which is accepted. |
May, 1993: | Michael Ross attempts suicide after being a client of the Samaritans/FRNB for over four years. He remains on life support, for over a year. |
May 22, 1993: | Yvonne George, Edward J. Florino, Sheila Gilmartin and other friends of the Ross family hold a fundraiser on behalf of Michael Ross, with proceeds given to the Samaritans/FRNB. |
Summer, 1993: | Samaritans/FRNB reject any and all praise campaign commendations and funds, claiming that campaign is being falsely manufactured. Letters of authentication from various contributors are sent. |
July 4th, 1993: | Elaine Ross asks Sister Plante to assist in mediating between the praise campaign organizers and the Samaritans/FRNB. |
July 7, 1993: | Sister Plante sends a personal check and the first of five letters to the Samaritans/FRNB. It is returned to her. |
August 1993: | Mrs. Leite meets with Sister Plante in her office at the Department of Education. |
September 9, 1993: | Sister Plante meets with an angry Ellie Leite and Barbara Mackowski and promises to investigate their concerns. |
September 20, 1993: | Date of "rough draft" letter addressed to Sister Plante threatening legal action. |
October 5, 1993: | Date of actual letter sent certified mail to Sister Plante "politely asking" her to cease contact with the Samaritans/FRNB. |
March 1994: | Sister Plante sends one of the three copies of Michael's poetry book to Ellie Leite. |
June 15, 1994: | Susan Lyman arranges for the Samaritans/FRNB to meet with Ross supporters and Sister Plante. Meeting explodes into angry confrontation. |
July 19, 1994: | Samaritans/FRNB meet with Bishop O'Malley to accuse Sister Plante of unsubstantiated charges. |

April 3, 1995 | Robert George files his appearance as Sister Plante's counsel. |
December 11, 1995: | Depositions scheduled from Bishop O'Malley, Father Beaulieu and Sister Laliberte. All three refuse to appear to be deposed. |
August 27, 1996: | Sister Plante's first lawsuit against the Samaritans/FRNB is summarily dismissed for lack of evidence. |
February 26, 1997: | Sister Plante files a second lawsuit against the Samaritans/FRNB and the Diocese of Fall River. |
May 19, 1997: | Father Richard Beaulieu and Sister Rosemary Laliberte are scheduled to appear for deposition. They fail to appear. Samaritan attorney James Franchek files protective order to preclude depositions being taken from Ellie Leite and Peter L. Paull Jr. |
May 20, 1997: | Ellie Leite and Peter L. Paull Jr. scheduled to appear for deposition. They are exempted from appearing. |
May 21, 1997: | Bishop Sean O'Malley scheduled to appear for deposition. He fails to appear. |
June 2, 1997: | Attorney for the Diocese files a motion to dismiss, or for Summary Judgement, based on lack of evidence. |
June 12, 1997: | Sister Plante retains Attys. Susan Correia and Daniel Gindes as counsel. |
July 3, 1997: | Judge Richard Chin dismisses Count II of Sister Plante's second lawsuit, on grounds of res judicata. |
August 26, 1997: | Sister Plante files a Motion to Amend her prior complaint. |
September 11, 1997: | Fall River Superior Court Judge John Xifaris dismisses Count I of Sister Plante's second lawsuit, stating that the issue is a Church matter protected by the First Amendment. |
February 26, 1998: | Sister Plante's Appeal for Relief from Summary Judgment in the first lawsuit is denied. |
September 23, 1998: | Sister Plante files a lawsuit against her attorney, Robert George, for breach of contract, legal malpractice, negligence and misrepresentation. |
