Personal Reflections: |
|
In life there are two sides to everything and sometimes one side is so intense we're blinded to see the other side. I, like many others, was blind to life's simple pleasures because I was being controlled by people called "friends" and a controlled substance. It's no secret that drugs and drinking will control you, its been known to bring down the toughest to the most famous, so what makes you any different? Drugs and Drinking are also thieves that rob you of not only your money, but self pride, dignity, and makes you look like a fool. |
|
Today I am living on the other side, the other side of the fence, the other side of a wall, the other side of slamming bar doors and I am still being controlled but not by friends, where I live there are no friends. I wish I knew then what I know now, then I believe that I wouldn't be living on this side. I'm not blind anymore, but I'm not free either, it's a high price to pay for being a fool. But I am still fortunate because lots of people don't make it this far and find themselves in cages 23 hours a day or 6 ft. under. I'm a man who has experienced both sides of the fence and I have been given an opportunity to try to reach those who are blind. So see because at this time you are seeing your future if you continue to indulge a life of drugs and drinking. Sure, you may forget this convicts sad story, but the one thing that you won't forget when you find yourself in a 9'X 5' cage and that's the simple pleasures of life. You know, the ones you've never experienced, so today make the choice and make a wise one because it will effect you or it will infect you for life. |

Because I Love You Enough |
|
|
Because I love you enough to ask where you are going. |
Enough to insist you buy yourself the bike with your own money. |
Enough to be silent and let you realize your friend is a creep. |
Enough to make you return the half-eaten candy to the store and confess "I stole it". |
Enough to stand over you while you clean your room. |
Enough to admit I was wrong and ask for your forgiveness. |
Enough to let you learn from your own actions, and enough to let you assume responsibility. |
But most of all, I love you enough to say No why you hated me for it all, and that was the hardest part of all. |

Existence |
|
|
Merely one individual not knowing how to start, |
It's all so confusing, these pains in my heart. |
I'm standing all alone, but pride be my light, |
For no one said it's easy, so take it day and night. |
Life is so short, why must it be, |
Not even you can set me free. |
There is no shame, |
I feel no pain. |
The games you play, winning or losing, |
Will catch you off guard, you'll have no choosing, |
Can this be your life, for the high you feel, |
It's just a mask, you know it's not real. |
Life is so short, why must it be, |
That only the Lord can set me free, |
There is no shame, |
I feel no pain. |
Drugs are your evil, tugging and pulling your mind, |
You say no more, until the next time. |
Now you're speechless, no words can be said, |
Life is gone, for your existence is dead. |
Life is so short, so let it be, |
Now he will set me free, |
There is no shame |
I feel no pain. |

Heroes |
|
|
Heroes of subdued light, how far advanced must you be. |
Alnight laid open in bed, virgin to the pour of moth light. |
Surrounded by a land you do not know, |
At the moment you're not yourself, the moment is short. |
We can be heros but just for today, |
I hear someone calling my name, |
Is it my brother, is it my sister, |
Come now let us pray. |
Light in the hour after black hour, out of the ground into the air, |
Sometimes I'm strong, sometimes cold and scared, |
The flame in obscure wounded pride, curled by the heat, |
With tears on cheek, running down to my feet. |
We can be heros but just for today, |
I hear someone calling my name, |
Is it my brother, is it my sister, |
Come now let us pray. |
You in the moonlight with your sleepy eyes, are you really free? |
Heroes of subdued light, how far advanced must you be, |
Nothing can save you now, not even the taste of love, |
On earth as it is in heaven, there is only one who is above. |
We can be heros but just for today, |
I hear someone calling my name, |
Come now let us pray. |
