Independent Learning Exercises.
For this first week restrict yourself to exploring some of the tools
available in the labs. For the development exercise and assignment in
this module you will need only a basic knowledge of Dreamweaver, a slight
acquaintance with Flash, and an ability to manipulate digital images in
Photoshop. Both Dreamweaver and Flash come with tutorial files and extensive
help, so take a brief look around these tutorials and try to create some
sort of working product in them - however small. You will probably find
that you can pick up many aspects of Dreamweaver intuitively - just treat
it like a word processor. Flash is more difficult, but if you could produce
a simple animation of a moving shape, then you would be doing well.
Get used to exploring tools without any formal instruction. Develop the
confidence that you could pick up any package, given a reasonable chance.
Multimedia tools change very quickly, so it is important to develop a
self-teaching mentality to keep up to speed.
The books mentioned in the 'green zone' will certainly help.
