Hi and welcome. I'm Erik, founder and curator of this site - Sanctuary of Light and Wisdom. This is my comfortable basement lounge where I hang out and relax.

You see, there's a red old sofa by the wall where I lie down after a long day. The dim lights help me to calm down whilst I listen to the distant sounds of a storm outside. The fireplace is stoked to provide just the right amount of warmth. Feeling the carpeted floor with my bare feet, I slowly sip a warm cup of coffee, brewed from the finest grains. Once in a while the firewood crackles and pops in a soothing way. The sound of distant thunder (play - 72KB) reminds me that I'm under shelter, protected and safe.

Occassionally, I invite one of my friends down here to enjoy this luxury. These are usually my good friends who share the same interests as I do. We share moments of laughter and happiness, recounting all the blessings we've had since childhood. It certainly is a pleasant experience...

As we sit down and relax, I would tell my guests about my passion for web design, how I spend hours to create a particular page like this one and how I would laboriously weed out any errors. I'm interested in programming and all but there is a part of me that wishes to venture into the artistic world. In creating such sites, I am able to express myself in ways words can never express. I believe that sites like these are worth more than a thousand pictures...

I do however, have other non-computer related interests. I enjoy watching shows such as Babylon 5, The X-Files, Charmed, Friends and Seinfeld. Apart from that, I love listening to music. Celtic, classical, new age and contemporary songs more suit my taste than others. I listen to songs from Enya, Loreena McKennitt and more recently Sarah Brightman.

In Perth, I would occassionally go to the city to have a large pizza all to myself. It's just my way of rewarding myself for hard work and determination. I also love to binge on the usual Penang hawkers' foods. As for drinks, nothing beats a cold glass of chocolate milk after a hot day.

Being particularly frank under such a relaxed mood, I reveal to my guests how I enjoy the occassional quiet times I have. In such a hectic world, I need to be by myself once in a while. That is why I have this little lounge.

Sometimes, my guests would like to know what I do - my studies and work aspirations. Well, I'm currently in my third and final year (2001) of the BCM course at The University of Western Australia. I'm planning to major in the fields of Computer Science and Information Technology Systems. If my guests require further information, I'd then direct them to my resume.
