Looking back it feels as if the Comenius Project started Tuesday the 28th September 1999. On that day 5 teachers from England and Italy came to visit class 1.a on Søndervangskolen. We were very excited and a bit nervous because everybody had practiced to say a few words in English. The five visiting teachers were very patient as all 23 pupils said, "Hello my name is ...". We played some games together and the pupils were thrilled to be offered candy from abroad. - A good start!

Class 1.a was linked to Orange class on Queen Mary Avenue Infant School and class 1 in Amalfi. We exchanged a lot of works and letters. The pupils found it interesting to learn about all the differences in the school system and everyday life in England and Italy. We had the feeling that we got to know the other pupils and teachers, - that we were friends.
