Bodil Tilma Hansen writes... In the autumn of '98 two headteachers from England found our school on the internet. Michael Lloyd was the headteacher of Scartho Junior School in Grimsby and Jane Powell on Queen Mary Avenue Infant & Nursery School in Cleethorpes. These two schools already had contacts in Italy, Scuola Elementare Statale in Amalfi, and was now looking for a partnerschool from a third country. After several faxes and telephone-conversations Per Clausen and I visited Grimsby in February '99 to see the schools, talk to the teachers and find out about the possibilities in a Comenius project between our schools. We had both been working with language-groups from year 10 for several years during which we had visited schools in England, Germany and The U.S.A, but working with infant and junior schools would be a completely new challenge for us. Our stay in Grimsby was such a positive experience that we were now very eager to take part in the project as suggested by Michael Lloyd. |
