What is Jerusalem Approaches?  It's our trip to explore the area around Jerusalem including the Herodium, the Judean Wilderness, "Solomon's Pools," Tekoa, Bethlehem and the Mt. of Olives.  A very fun trip.  A focus (besides the routes leading to Jerusalem): the ministry of Jesus figured very prominently in many of the places we went:

Bethlehem: place of his birth

Judean Wilderness: likely the place of his 40-day temptation

Mt. of Olives: home of his friends Mary, Martha and Lazarus.  From here he ascended into heaven after his resurrection.

From the Mt. of Olives you get a great view of the city of Jerusalem.  Just before his death, Jesus wept over the city from here (Luke 19). Everybody has a camera; sometimes the better picture is of those making strange facial contortions as they get just the right angle.

Chet can zoom in with this lens.  Kim and Brian are in the background. Some of the girls gather for a picture in front of the Kidron Valley and the City of David.

In Bethlehem, Nate performed a monologue he wrote as Joseph, the "father" of Jesus. Afterwards, we had a moving time of singing in one of the caves underneath the church.

Our time in the Wilderness of Judah was profitable too - just to sit in the silence and think about guys like David hiding out here. Brian used the opportunity at one of the stops to catch his breath (and a little nap!)

The Dix couple (John and Carolee) are figuring out where they are. Brett, Amy and Chet have their notes ready to go for the stop at the Herodium.
