THE PARTY

Mom, Dad, there is this party
No, there will be no alcohol
Okay, as I said...
They don't smoke grass, Mom

It will be next Friday
Sure, I will do my homework on Saturday
Yes, my last grades were good, Dad
No, they won't change because of this party

We'll just sit and talk, maybe I'll make new friends
How can you know they're not the right people for me?
Why do you always believe something bad will happen?
I will be back at the appointed time, I promise

Don't you trust me?
What have I done wrong?
Okay, now you tell me where one can meet people then
Oh, you don't know?

For you it may not be important
No, my life is not depending on it
Why are you shouting at me?
Yes, I'd let my children go

You are never completely safe, Mom
Nothing ever happened to anyone I know
They go out each weekend and everything's okay
How shall I have fun otherwise?

Will I do what I want to when I'll be eighteen?
No, sure, I'll live from your money and in your house
When I will be older, of course
But, Mom, I'd like to live today, you know...

I didn't expect you to understand why I'm crying
Yes, I am a very lucky girl, I have enough to eat and nice clothes
I will have a bright future and my parents do their best for me
Thank you very much, I love you

Then why do I feel so lonely?
Music is playing in the background
The only place where I am free is in my head
One day...

I'll be the one to decide
I will be able to be happy and not only safe
A life in a ball of glass is not worth much
Save when you know that one day you'll break it

THE SOUND OF BLUE

White foam tickling the golden shores
A bird sitting on a small stone
Closing its eyes
Not to look at the world

After a while I stopped asking why
I had discovered the darkness
Lying in front of me
I swam back to the isle

No one dared to speak
We were the last living people
And we knew it
He looked at me

Shall we go on? his eyes said
There was nothing more to lose
I wasn't sure if we could win, either
It just didn't matter

There was no other choice than to continue
Though the greyness was all around us
You can't step back
When you are at the edge of a cliff

We had to return to the world
Supposing the island would always be here
In the case we would ever need it again
I didn't doubt it

THE ONLY FOE OF YOUTH

There once was a tall and a short man
The tall one had much longer legs
He ran faster and was hard to follow
But the small man didn't hurry

They always walked the same way
A colored circle with no limits
Sometimes on gold and later on plastic
They met and parted again

When I was bored, I watched them very often
I always carried them with me
The persons who didn't see them asked me
They wanted to know where they were now

There were days when the tall man seemed too slow
I shook the circle to be sure the short one hadn't stopped
My ear listened to their steps
Marking the passing stream of time

LEARNING

When the towers of books are growing high
You have the feeling they'll soon touch the sky
Your eyes and your head slowly ache
The brain that doesn't stop to shake

Remember the future and your way
All the places you will want to stay
Look at the beauty of the summer flowers
Enjoy the freshness of your morning showers

The song of life will never end
Sweet letters called power it shall send
Be ready for love now and today
Who cares about what sadness may say?
