Weapon and Non-Weapon Proficiencies
WEAPONS
Upon learning a weapon, your character will get a +1 Proficiency in that weapon. No extra bonuses...the character just knows how to use it.

More training is spent into that weapon, and you learn to become quicker with the weapon of choice. You are know considered GOOD with that weapon. +1 D6.

Now you move on and train with a master or self-teach yourself many hours a day. Your accuracy with that weapon improves. You are considered an expert at that weapon and get a +1 attack or D20.

You have now most likely opened your own school of fighting, or becoming both feared and awed in your weapon. You are considered a Master of the weapon. An additional +1 D20.

Few...FEW make it this far. These are the heroes or legends at their skill. Some are: Bruce Lee and his martial arts; Sir Lancelot of the Lake and himself; Talamorin Longbow and his twin scimitars. These few HAVE a following whether they want one or not. They get an additional ACTION per round AND a +1 to either...Initative, Attack, OR Damage. This must be declared before a combat round begins.

EXAMPLE:
Sir Browen began training to use the sword at a young age. By the time he was knighted he knew how to fight with:
Bastard Sword
Dagger
Lance
---note all of these are +1 training...meaning he knows how to use them.

After traveling the planes and fighitng of Fiends...
Talamorin Longbow had to become better or die...Self taught. He now knows:
Bow+2 (good)
Scimitar+3 (expert)
2 weapon Style (this can not increase...once you know it, you concentrate on the weapon)
Dagger

NOW, after traveling the Multi-Verse. Meeting his wife,
Que'llar and his friend IlL'ese're, and fighting with Sir Browen the Bold...Talamorin had risen to a high level of fighting. Upon defeating the demon-god Traz...Talamorin knew:
Bow+4 (expert)
Scimitar +5
Dagger +3

That was 40 years ago...I pity the fool to fight him now!
Non-Weapon Proficiencies
Real simple...If you know the skill you are considered good at it. SOME skills do increase as more 'slots' are put into them. These are the high skill prof's.

EX:
Dorium Bedrock...the greatest Weaponsmithy of ALL URSA. As a young mountain dwarf, Dorium learned how to use the forge. His strength and control of the hammer excelled and his work became better.

After 100 years of focusing on Weaponsmithing, Dorium now has a Weaponsmith 4...meaning that a 1 if great...at 2 his work was breath taking. 3....Avatars sought him out to forge weapons...now at 4......well, lets just say Dorium's skill will come to play again in the present. He he he.

Also, I do allow extra language to be used as Non-Weapon Prof's....as well as Weapon Prof's.
Where do you want to go?
