THE RIVER OF LAND HO!

WELCOME!!
This is the River of Land Ho! The River is full of beautiful scenery...but know that the River is also full of danger. It would be very easy for one to venture in and never find their way out!!
As You enter into the mouth of the River, you will notice the beautiful banks, flaring high up and out to the Lands. Along those banks, dwell the River Tharlarions! They are extremely large, web-footed, lizard-like creatures. They are not usually of a complacent nature, although they are herbivorous. So, despite their omninous size, one might be able to escape the interest of one of these creatures. WATCH OUT, however, for their cousin, the Mamba...which, too is a type of River Tharlarion. They ARE carnivorous, as are most of the inhabitants of this River.
The Mamba is said to resemble and have much the same treacherous characteristics of Urth's crocodile...but remember...you are on Gor, and on Gor, everything is extreme! When actually comparing a Mamba to a crocodile, you will find that a crocodile would be a much easier encounter!
In the waters of the river, you will see many varieties of fish, suitable for Gorean consumption, but again, this is Gor, and fishing is NOT what it is on Urth! In the River, you will find bints...not really suitable to eat as they are small and bony....much like the piranha fish found in the waters of Urth. There are Giant Gints, which have a 4-spined dorsal fin and which you may actually see walking along the banks of the river, as they amphibious...being able to walk on their pectoral fins! There are Blue Grunts, which are the smaller cousins to the Thassa Grunt, and are carnivorous. The scent of blood in the waters will attract them, quickly. As it will the River Sharks, a sleek, black and very viscous shark with a triangular dorsal fin that lurks in the Rivers waters, too. And you may even run across a dock eel that slithered in from a nearby dock from the Thassa...altho, they are more at home in the salty waters of the sea and the brackish waters that surround them.
As you travel along the waters of the River of Land Ho, you are bound to see the river birds that take up residence along the banks and in the nearby thicket. You're bound to see a Tufted Fisher or at least one of the two species of waders...the ringed-neck wader or the yellow-legged wader that frequent this River. They are very proficient fisherbirds, and for the most part, have little to do with a wandering Gorean that rides down the River.
As the River of Land Ho begins to narrow, and you start to head into the swamp, you'll see more and more of the River Urt which inhabit the banks. They are bolder and bigger than most of the other species of Urts and you will see are not easily intimidated. They will often scavenge off the debris left by the River Tharlarions and the Mambas, which also prefer to take up residence in the narrowing part of the River...altho don't take comfort in that fact, as the chances of running across a River Tharlarion or a Mamba ANYWHERE along the River is a very real probability!!
Be Cautious and Be Warned! The River of Land Ho beholds many wonders, as well as many dangers. One should travel very carefully when venturing into its waters!
