OH YEAH BABY! Here is where it all begins! The year 1971 sees the printing of issues 10-14. Dont' know what I'm talkin' about? Well read on.

The first Vampi story from this year is Carnival of the Damned! This is where you sit down with a good cup of coffee and thank your Gods that Warren started a comic called Vampirella. We find out a lot of juicy info about Adam and Conrad Van Helsing. Like, why do these guys hate Vampires so much? Also this issue introduces Vampi's loyal friend the stage magician, Mordecai Pendragon.

In Death's Dark Angel, Vampi gets to find out what mortality is all about. It's the very first Vampi story to feature the art of Jose Gonzalez, the artist who would go on to define the look of Vampirella throughout the Warren run. In this issue the art really does take a giant leap forward. It's kinda sad to look at that art and think, "She's just a drawing...damn that sucks!" hehe)

The last two issues are Lurker in the Deep! and Isle of the Huntress!. Ever wonder why all the early titles ended with an exclamation point? Me neither. Anyway...it's two issues filled with great artwork and master stories taken right out of the movies. In these issues Vampi gets a little nasty (not the way you're thinkin') and, of course, Adam finds out he wants to be more than "just friends". Can you blame him?
