Born to Devin and Amanda Kant on October 3rd in 2021 in New Macross City, he was the youngest of two children. His older sister, Rebecca, was already a few years old when he was born and helped take care of him since his parents were both in the RDF and would transfer to the REF before the SDF-3 was launched. Erick's father was Devin Kant, a decorated and somewhat well known Communicatiosn Officer that had served on the on the SDF-1 and transfred to the SDF-3 and given command of Communications abord it. His mother was also in the RDF, only a medic and she too transfered to the REF and was stationed on the SDF-3 as well.
When the SDF-3 left to go to Tirol, Erick, still a youngster and his sister were taken along. Needless to say, Erick and Rebecca grew up among the REF and knew no other way of life but that.
He grew up among the fabled Veritech Fighters and Destroids of the REF and RDF. He saw many things that people back on Earth could only dream about like Tirol, home of the Robotech Masters and Fantoma, the moon the Zentradei has so long ago mined for the Masters. He grew up in a nearly perfect enviornoment save the deaths of many of his friends loved ones. From being around so many wonderous things for so long, it sparked his mind to no end. In class he was consistantly scoring good grades and almost never got in trouble, the perfect student. At home his parents did their best to raise him and his sister as best they could. He was lucky and he knew it. He still had both his parents who loved him and his sister who he loved and she loved him.
He decided that when he was old enough, he'd join the REF and follow in the footsteps of his father as a Communication Officer. His sister followed his mothers footsteps, going REF Medical when she was old enough to enlist in it. Luckily for her, she was given a post on the SDF-3 and would miss the destruction of the REF fleet upon liberating Earth from the Invid the first time.
When he was old enough, he did join the REF, only he was stationed on the new Ikazuchi Carrier, the Dakronh and would be one of the lucky ones to survive it's harrowing experience. He can't believe he survived that and saw many of his friends and workmates perish before his eyes. At the time of the fold, he had just come off his shift and gone to bed, only to wake up later when the klaxons and alarms ringing through the ship telling everyone on board somethign was wrong. He sprang to his feet and ran to the closest window to see what was going on and saw nothing but space out there. Then the Earth swung into view, something he hadn't seen since he was very very young. His eyes teared up at the sight..home..finally. When he found out what had happened through the ship, it shook him to his core, but he dealt with it and moved on, not allowing himself to forget his good friends that had died. He now thanks his lucky stars that he's alive and can do something to help liberate the Earth from the hated Invid.
Erick has gotten the best parts of both his parents. His dad was a massive man, standing at 6'5" and being built of pure muscle, but had a heart the same size. His mother was an average women, only she was prettier then most and even nicer then that. Erick has all those traits. He's not quite his fathers size, only 6'3", but he does have his heart and his muscles. He's also got him mother's unbelievable looks and her temperment. He's the sort of person who's modest about everything he does. He also does not know the fate of his family and is deeply scared and concerned but never shows it, at least not in front of anyone. They mean everything to him and he has no idea what he would do without them.
