Gabriel and Taylor's Home

Gabriel and Taylor's Home

You decide on the silver door and walk through. Inside, you see two ferilons lounging in chairs. They have many crumpled up papers surrounding them. You walk further in and see that the purple and blue ferilon is drawing pictures while the green and yellow ferilon is writing something. The purple ferilon hears your footsteps and turns to regard you. He smiles and puts down his paper and pencil.

"Welcome to our home. My name is Gabriel and this is Taylor. What is your name?" the ferilon says. You tell Gabriel your name and say that you are exploring Remanth's home. He nods and gestures to Taylor. She puts down her papers and goes to a cupboard in the back of the room. Gabriel leads you around the chairs and gestures you to sit in an empty chair. Taylor comes back with three glasses filled with clear, refreshing water. You take the cup and drink slowly, savoring the cold. The two sit down and pick up their respective tools.

"We're working on a horror story," Taylor explains, writing quickly. "We were asked to write a short story for an anthology. Gabriel agreed to illustrate it." You watch as the two ferilons work for several seconds. Then, Gabriel looks up and studies his drawing. He shows it to Taylor asking, "What do you think?" Taylor nods and Gabriel hands the picture to you. It shows a vampire and a werewolf chasing a person down a hallway. The vampire has blood dripping from his mouth and the werewolf has many cuts on her hide. The human is holding a bloody knife and has a look of absolute horror on his face. You are amazed at how real the picture looks.

"This is amazing," you tell Gabriel. "How do you get it to look so lifelike?" Gabriel smiles and shows you his colored pencils. They all have odd names like dried blood or cheery fire. You look up at the ferilon, puzzled.

"The company that makes my colored pencils pride themselves on making realistic-looking colors. The names describe the color it matches," Gabriel explains. You nod in understanding and hand the picture back. Gabriel places it in an empty pocket in the briefcase next to the chair. You turn to Taylor and wait patiently. When she's finished writing, she reads through it one more time. Then she hands the paper to you. You read it and find that it matches the picture that Gabriel drew exactly. Taylor's writing talent is so good that you can almost hear the guy's heart beating in terror and the werewolf's howls. You hand the paper back with a smile. Gabriel hands you a piece of paper and a pencil.

"If you like, you can draw a collage of everyone you've visited so far," Gabriel says.

"And I can write who you've visited," Taylor chimes in. You nod and start drawing. While you draw, you tell Taylor who you've visited so far and what you thought of them. She nods once in a while as she writes. When you're done drawing, Gabriel takes the picture and starts coloring it in. Before Gabriel is done coloring, Taylor hands you her writings. You read it through and laugh. She has portrayed everything you said, making the funny parts seem funnier and the odd parts seem odder. When you are done reading, Gabriel hands you the finished picture. You look at it in amazement. It looks so real. You say your thanks and promise to frame the picture. You wish the two ferilons luck in their writing and drawing and wave good-bye. You walk out the door as the two ferilons wave their good-byes.
