Onboard the Enterprise, Picard said "Data, patch me through to the other ships."
"You are on, sir."
"This is Cpt. Picard speaking. I suggest that we make a strategic retreat away from here at high warp. Lay in a course of 163.9 mark 20 and head that way at Warp 4 for 30 minutes. Picard out."
Then Data tapped the layout in front of him a few times and said, "Captain, warp engines have just been repaired and we are ready to go to warp on your mark"
"Data, engage"
The flotilla of starships seemed to stretch out and then disappeared.
30 MINUTES LATER........
"Captain, I
am detecting a semi-constructed space station" said Cmdr
Data
"Visual, and feed the image to the other ships" replied Picard. The starfield on the viewscreen was quickly replaced by an almost completed gray orb, hanging menacingly in the midst of space.
"Mr Data, could that be a large Borg sphere?" inquired Riker
"Negative, sir. I am detecting power signals quite different than that of the Borg. Although, I am detecting large amounts of cybernetic and android beings aboard the station."
"Interesting......have they detected us?" Queried Picard.
"Negative, sir. I am detecting that they have inferior sensor systems, yet they have a large amount of overcharged weaponry." Replied Data.
"Contact with the other ships' computers and see if they have any records of a station like this." ordered Captain Picard. "They may be able to shed some light on the current situation."
"All vessels have replied in the negative, sir," Data replied a moment later.
"I expected as much, Commander.......very well, try to raise them on all communications frequncies." mused Picard
"Captain, I am receiving a visual response from the station." Rumbled Lieutenant Worf, thumbing his console impatiently.
"Accept and put through to all vessels."
On the viewscreen, a strange figure appeared. Completely covered, the black helmet had glare to challenge Picard's forehead. "You will surrender you vessels and prepare to be ordered, Admiral of the lead vessel."
"Actually, it's Captain, and you are...?." Picard let the sentence trail into silence.
"That is not of your concern. Prepare to be boarded." Abruptly, the vision was replaced by that of the Orb station.
"Captain, they are arming their weapons. I reccomend red alert." Lt. Worf's voice echoed throughout the bridge.
"Red alert!" Intoned Riker "and order all ships to arm phasers and torpedoes!"
"Ensign Ro, maneuver us to within firing range." Ordered the Captain.
"Aye sir" Glowered the helmswoman.
"Ensign, do I detect a note of hatred in your voice?" asked Riker.
"You may well, sir. The Bajoran people have legends of invaders, completely covered in black, who once attacked the prophets. They nearly succeded."
"Well, do not let that interfere in you duty" Ordered Picard.
"Aye, sir." Said Ensign Ro, gritting her teeth.
"We are now within rasnge of the enemy station. They are firing weapons!" Yelled Worf, as the Enterprise bucked and rolled.
"Evasive maneuvers, return full fire!" called Picard, the richness of his voices timbre now growing to the strength of duranium.
"Phasers and torpedoes have minimal effect, captain! They have extremely powerful shields."
"Do they have any weaknesses? Any vulnerabilities AT ALL?" Intoned Riker.
"Sensors report that in the unconstructed section of the station, there are no weapons. We could orbit the station in that vicinity and we would be shielded." Reported Worf as gleefully as a Klingon ever got.
"Make it so, and relay this information to all ships!" Called Picard.
"Captain, whilst in orbit the the undefended area, we reported a drop of their shields and an fluctuation on Yamato at the same moment.....I believe their shield is generated from the planet nearby, so we could place a ship between the station and the planet, disrupting the power shield!"
"Mr Worf, order the Yamato to report to those co-ordinates while Voyager, Challenger and Enterprise assault that station!"
"With gladness, sir" said Worf, baring his fangs.
Suddenly, the Rebel fleet arrived.
"Sir, a fleet of approximately 30 vessels just arrived in the system! I suggest that we make another retreat! shouted Worf.
"Agreed. Mr. Data, get us out of here! And tell the other ships where we are going."
