IV. Introduction

Recently, the issue of medicinal marijuana has been all over the headlines, on the news, and in your voters’ pamphelts. Marijuana has been under prohibition in the United States since 1937, when it was placed under the Marijuana Tax Act. It has been used as a medicine and a euphoriant for five thousand years. It has proven to have many benefits for treating many incurable diseases that plaugue our country. Marijuana is a very versitile drug, as it has benefits for several diseases, as opposed to a few symptoms.

Marijuana could be a choice treatment for thousands of people. It has shown to be above the standards for today’s medical use, yet it still fails to be legalized. Many people already use marijuana illegally to treat their conditions, and many doctors have recommended that their patients use marijuana. Marijuana has shown to be helpful in treating nausea, chronic pain, muscle spasms, intraocular eye pressure and even migraine headaches.
