Main History -- May 2000 -- June 2000 May 12, 2000 I'm not quite dead yet... but Ebay has been taking my soul (or at least money) methodically and surely. And I'm still a little ill. The visual section is more or less cleaned up now, but I still have write-ups to do for the pictures from the original gallery. Joy! I finally 'adopted' Aburatsubo, from Mahou Tsukai Tai! All I have to do now is give him space on the page. Probably next to Hiei; I'm sure he wouldn't mind... I now go back to Ebay. I'm signed up with Canada Ebay, but nothing I want is being sold there. Luckily (or, unluckily, if you're looking at it from my bank account's perspective...) a membership at any of the Ebays allows you to bid on items from the main Ebay, and translates the currency (usually US dollars, no matter where it's being sold from) to your own (Canadian, in my case). For example, (I'm on a roll here) an item's price would appear as "$9.99 US ($345.67 CA)". Ok, I'm exaggerating a little. $9.99 US would really be about $15.00 CA... actually, maybe it would be a little more... Which is why people sell in US dollars. Ok, I'll stop now. May 5, 2000 Fixing the gallery layout now, please bear with any glitches which may occur... Still sick, and not much has gotten done... I joined ebay, though, and tried my hand at complicated table coding. It took all day, but I managed to get a mediocre table worked out. It's not all I wanted it to be, but it's there. Only now, I can't seem to be able to change it... There's more I wanted to say, and I have to fix some of the information, but haven't been able to do so... but I can bid now, which I guess is good. I'm also helping out another page, Lollihop's Anything Goes School of Martial Arts Bishounen Collection. It was 'Bishounen Kidnapping', but that seemed a little harsh... Anyway, there's not much there, but take a look at it here. May 18, 2000 Bah... I didn't get the eBay menu picture up when I said I would... I'll try and get it done today. Classes for the spring/summer semesters have started, however, and will make updating either more difficult, or less difficult... I may update more often, to avoid schoolwork (bad!!). May 12, 2000 - May 16, 2000 Yes. Still alive. A funny thing happened to me while phoning the university's automated line to see if my OSAP (the student loan here) was in yet, as summer courses start tomorrow... the OSAP was in. I got my student loan before classes started. That has almost never happened. So, of course, I celebrated by starting to buy things on eBay again... One of these days, all the things I've ordered are going to come in, and my feedback will jump from 0 to a million or something... Ok, I exaggerate again. I think I'm going to add an eBay section today. I've been planning to do so for a while, and since I don't feel like sifting through all the pictures I have to find the one's I haven't done write-ups for yet, I'll put that eBay section up... that seems like less work somehow. Indeed. So, before today is out, the eBay page should be linkable from the menuframe to the side. May 21, 2000 I decided to make a links page. It's almost like an update... so, you can either access it here, for today, or on the menu, where it will stay. I'll add to it later. It's a fairly ecclectic mix, but only in the anime/manga sphere... I suppose that makes it less ecclectic. Enjoy, or not, as the case may be. I bid on more things on eBay. I must be stopped, before I impoverish myself... but there are things that I really want, and people keep trying to outbid me on them. I've crosslinked my 'have' list for eBay with the anime/manga section. However, my 'have' list isn't that complete - I haven't added in my posters, figures/dolls, the two cels I now own, and more... I want the things I've ordered to arrive soon. I have two feedbacks now, both good. However. The eBay account is also owned by my roommate Shane. He's helping someone out by selling two copies of a doujinshi on eBay soon... but it's hentai. Breasts and popular girl characters... it makes me shudder to even think of it. I feel ashamed to have the account I set up having to sell this... stuff, but that's the way it goes. I just want it out of the apartment. I think I'm going to start an Outenkun page. Perhaps it will be the first english Outenkun page ever! I'm gonna need a scanner for sure now... May 23, 2000 This day's update was more of a rant, so I've added it to the writings section. View it here. May 28, 2000 The computer is back... there was no virus, but for some reason, one of the major .DLL files, as well as some smaller ones, were gone. My roommate fixed the problem by upgrading to Win98. Joy. However, I lost Photoshop and Homepage, for reasons I won't bother to go into... so I'm still updating on WinNotepad, and for pictures, I must rely on either WinPaint or Adobe Illustrator. I made an image of Outenkun (one of my new favorite characters)... on Paint, so it's not as good as I would have liked.. but here it is. I did, however, decide to make a background of it in Illustrator... if you see it, then I finished it. If you don't... then I haven't finished. I may be updating the amine critique page later today. May 29, 2000 Or, is it the 30th now... I have such a bad concept of time...) I could not make a background, as I had planned. Illustrator is one of the most useless pieces of programming I have ever seen, besides Acrobat Reader... and of course, the entire Windows line. Now Explorer crashes on half of the pages I normally look at. And if I touch anything for the 5 or 10 minutes that Win98 is trying to load itself, the modem becomes disabled, and memory errors scream at me. But, this is what I have, so this I must use, unless I want to sit down and code my own interface, and programs that it can run on itself (which I don't). Nothing runs from DOS anymore, and to get a Mac would be very much out of my price range. Plus, I'd have to get one of those computers that looks like a big candy... all two-toned, half-see-thru, happy colorful pieces of yuppie garbage. Reminds me too much of the stuff they wanted us to design in my class... And I'm definately not going back there. Where was I? Oh yeah... Illustrator's suck factor. Yes, we had to use that at school as well, which is the only reason I have it. It's good for taking graphics, and applying text and gradients, so that all your projects can look just like hip magazine ads. Joy. I had hoped it could ta least help me make a background, but no. If I want a gradient with what looks like noodles overlaid, then I'm in, but to import an image, cut around it so that it doesn't look like a white block, and fade it so it's not difficult to read overtop of, no, I can't do that. Only Photoshop could have done that, and it's dead. Very dead. So, no background until I can find a new Photoshop program (I seem to have lost my copy). I may still do some more anime critiques today, but today's going to be a busy day... Travelling on buses, getting more money orders in US dollars for people on eBay, buying comics, wondering when my doll will get here, going to school, picking up the textbook I ordered, which finally came in, actually sitting through the 3 hours of class, without getting up and hurting any of the nitwits there, more bus rides... but it may get done. It could happen. May 31, 2000 Well, well well. Here I am again. I didn't do the anime write-ups, but I did a brief rant. It's up in the writings section, and today can be accessed here. Strong language warning for the rant. I decided to add a table of projects status, more for helping me to remember which ones I have going, than anything else. Update! - The counter hit 150 today. So that's 150 hits in, what, 2 months? Since I joined with RapidAccess... I forget when that was. Anyway, 150 hits... who knew that people would actually find my page interesting enough... |
