I'm not sure what to update with today. There's a lot to do. I was thinking, that since I have so much of my web space taken up by my pictures, and that I'm not quite happy with a lot of them, that I may either take a bunch of them down, or put them up in smaller numbers, sort of as a weekly revolving gallery. However, that would require a lot of effort, and as I'm back to making the page on Notepad and Wordpad, and checking it on Internet Explorer before I upload it, and am missing Photoshop, it's annoying to do anything with the images galleries ('Visual' section). On a side note, some people seem to have been confused when looking at my page... for some reason, people have been looking in the 'anime' section for my pictures. I have no idea what to say to that... so I put a link in the anime section to the visual section. I hope that lessens some of the confusion.

Alright, ya mugs... here's what I did - I added my rant of Windows (??) to the writings section, along with a thing (not really a rant, more of a commentary or aside) on wrong phone numbers. I edited both the want and have lists in the eBay section, but forgot to change the date on the want section... I think that's all. I must now go to aquire yet another money order for eBay purchases. I'm gonna get a Orchid doll, and ain't nobody gonna stop me, see... nyah..

And so...I'm less angry now. No one seems to have been offended by my outburst of anger the other day. Meaning that no one wrote me to tell me that such vehement words are unfitting to their eyes etc. A friend of mine phoned me, and read me his favorite lines from my rant (he can do that, having a cable modem allows him to phone people while still remaining on the Internet. How novel.)

I don't know if it was because of the rant, or simply due to coincidence, but there was a brief upsurgance in the number of people reading my page on the first or second day that the rant was up. The next day, no one looked at it. But no one complained... I guess they feared for their lives... or perhaps had better things to do with their time. For those of you who want to know the continuation of what occured, read on (I promise no cursing this time.. really...):
That person sent me an email back, telling me that I was, in essence, a bad looser. However, I think that perhaps they've never had anyone oppose them before, and the fact that I had actually managed to get one of the dolls seemed to make them a little angry themselves. They later did not get the Iris doll either; someone outbid them, and their browser/connection could not compete. I guess a cable modem really is better... ^_^ . So I wrote them a longish email, telling them the truth of the matter. About how I had wanted the Orchid doll most of all, and that I wasn't allowed to have it. About how he was a heartless collector of dreams. Suchlike. He later emailed me with a brief entry, that there was an Orchid doll for sale on some site. I went to said site, to find an Orchid doll that was only still there because of the $75 US price tag on her... That's over $100 Canadian. And, you know... I want the Orchid doll so much that I considered it for a while. However, financial situations become worse by their very nature. I went mad briefly, and bid on a whole bunch of Beanie things. It didn't seem like much at the time, $1.50 US here, $2.00 US there... but the total adds up to something like $70 Canadian. And for some reason, sellers of beanie things stick you with shipping charges which start at $4 US. So you take each of those little auctions, add the $4 or so shipping to each one, plus the fee for conversion to US funds, plus the fees for the money orders... and you get one Pixie who's eating the envelopes the bills came in for sustenance. OK, it's not that bad. I really have to try and get a scanner. Then I can start selling things on eBay. Maybe recoup losses or something. However, my roommate (the one who owns the computer) thinks that I should 'wait' to get a scanner. I've heard that line before. It's secret code for "don't get a scanner". I don't know what I'd sell anyway. The only things that people might buy would be things that I still really want to keep, and that I tried hard to get myself.

I didn't update today, again, with anything. I'm too tired. I wrote an essay proposal today, and I don't think it went very well. Soon, I have to write the actual essay. And the funny part is that when all this is done, I'll still have no future. Ha. Ha ha. Ehhhh...

Some good news... I have Photoshop back, and it's ver5.5 . I don't know how much better it actually is than ver5, but I have it. It had some video gamma calebration thingy, that was supposed to make the colors more like the colors that it would 'actually' be. Or something. I did it anyway. So, the first thing I did was to fix up my poor little Outenkun picture, that I made in the dark days of non-Photoshop-ness. See the finished product by clicking on my handy thumbnail. Compare it with the WinPaint original. I'll be moving them to the gallery until I open the Outenkun shrine page. I have a new background now, too.

Will it never end?! Oh, sorry, started on a bad note... I'll start with some marginally good news. I have a scanner! At last, at long last, a scanner! I've had it since Monday. However (this part being now the bad news), I can't use it. See, I got it on sale as a disused floor model or some such thing. It came with cables (only because my friend who was with me grabbed them), but no drivers. The sales person said he couldn't find the other stuff that was to have come with it. I found out later that he wasn't actually looking, but in fact had gone to grab more customers. So, I have a scanner-looking paperweight, until I can find drivers. These things happen... always... and frequently.. So, I may soon be able to do something with this page, if all the little things don't drain away what little bit of life I have left. I'll just put a link to the Outenkun picture in the Visual section for now... I am unable to go through with the work required to do anything else with it. Another essay to write for school. Perhaps then, I can do more solid updates...

June 17, 2000

Alright, the scanner works now... more or less. The computer, however, is another matter. It's still acting badly, crashing now and then. We're soon going to have to remove everything and reformat the harddrives. Sad I am, and sad I shall ever be. Also, whatever device Twain is using (I think it keeps using Twain16 or Twuck16 or something...) only allows me 3 settings - color photo, BW photo and BW drawing. No resizing. In any case, I scanned in one of my sketches in progress, edited it a bit in Photoshop, and have uploaded it for your viewing pleasure. Or not. View it on the Visuals page. I'm still pretty busy and stressed, so I may not do further updates before tomorrow.

Update2: I've been scanning some images, and playing with them in Photoshop. Check out my About Me page for a picture of my roommate and myself, as well as my cats... Photos of me! A first! Of course, I doctored them a little, so that we don't look quite as we actually look (I tried to make us not look hideously ugly; boy, those cats really know how to break a camera...). So, look at them. I command thee.

I have to finish a large, bloated essay today. It's on Reincarnation and Personality, and in it I have to prove or disprove the logical possibility of reincarnation. Kill me, and I'll find out first-hand! But, no, I have to write the thing without proper proofs or knowledge... I am stressed and busy. Therefore, no significant updates today, or at least not until about 11pm tonight, in which case it's almost technically the next day, anyway.
