Main History -- March 2000 -- April 2000 (After two years, I finally managed to update the page March 9, 2000 Finally updated the page again, only to remove files I March 16, 2000 Finally got an editor besides wordpad (not that wordpad March 17, 2000 Edited and updated anime critique section, adding a Dragonball section. March 18, 2000 (I'm updating my page instead of working...) March 19, 2000 Added new page to the main section - 'Design Intent'. March 20, 2000 Touchups, like removing the scrollbars on email and menu frames, and fixing spelling
mistakes (oops...) March 21, 2000 I am currently being forced to write a 3000 word essay (assigned last Thursday, due this Thursday) on a variety of mass production techniques, based on factory visits that the people in my class went to, but that I didn't go to for various reasons (this essay is the 'punishment' for not going). What does this mean, you ask? Well, it means I get to update a lot, because I'm stuck at the computer for long stretches of time, trying to think of a few hundred more words to say about the blow-molding method of production, and as that is mind-achingly dull, I do more things to update my page. Will it never end? I have updated and added to my manga critique. It took longer than I thought... March 24, March 25, 2000 The essay is done. The word count was well over 3000 words. To witness one of the most boring essays in the world, I have uploaded it to my essay section. IT'S HERE!!! My friend has generously lent me the use of his scanner, and something in the order of 90 new images are waiting in the wings! I'm slightly revamping my Visuals, so that the images are somewhat organized. See the Visuals page for the new sections and images. They aren't all going up at once, of course, because I'm still working on them, but I hope to have them all up by tonight or early tomorrow. I'll be occasionally uploading waves of them throughout the day. The image uploading count is now at : all images and thumbnails complete! I'm still working on the galleries, as the old gallery still contains images which should now go in the other galleries. I didn't add alternative text to all the pictures yet. I have added text to the new images, so that they bear my name in case they don't already. I probably should have put a small email and webpage in the corner of each one, but I didn't think of it until I had already done 50 of the images. Maybe another time. March 27, 2000 A new counter! At last, I can have the type of counter that tells only me how many hits this page has gotten! However, I'm not clear as to weither I'm supposed to put this thing on all of the sections of my page, or just the one, so, for the sake of laziness, I'll only put it here, on the welcome page. If it turns out I have to put it everywhere, then that I will do... but later, not now. Other than that, there's not really anything to update right now, and as two more projects are coming due this week, but after that, I have a large amount of time free, so the updates should continue, perhaps even as early as the end of the week. I started writing what I will consider my first fanfiction, as the truth is too horrifying to admit... perhaps, when it is finished, I'll put it here. With some pictures. I plan to finish up my anime and manga critiques sometime, and a few new pages are in the works. Stay tuned... March 30, 2000 I was a little wrong about my workload... It turns out that I have a little more to do than I thought I did, but it also turns out that I have longer to do it in. The last things I have due are a large project on redesigning a "bulldog" paperclip (due next Wednesday evening) and a dull report for the dull class that I had to write the dull essay for before (due next Thursday afternoon). This means I won't be able to everything I wanted to do for the page right away, but I will have a bit of time to update bits and pieces... For now, I have changed a few lines, colors and other style pieces (including fancy new menu content). I also added a table near the bottom of my page, which lists in easy-to-reference form, the dates each main section was updated. March 31, 2000 Well... my spanky new menu seems to not work very well... I wanted to have what is apparently called a 'roll-over' menu. I spent a while making the images for it. I then asked my friend if he knew the code for it, offhand, as I didn't remember it anymore (it's been years!). He couldn't recall either, having Dreamweaver, which inserts the code automatically, given images one and two. I had a copy of dreamweaver, that I never used, so I thought I'd open it up and give it a try. So simple. Dreamweaver wouldn't work. I tried everything, and it wouldn't register properly, no matter how many times I put in the number... So my friend went looking on the net for other people with roll-over codes, for me to use as examples. He couldn't find any right away, so he decided to make a temporary page with Dreamweaver. He copied the code, and emailed it to me. I put it in my page, and tried to fit it to my images. I then uploaded it, and checked it out. Not working. Garg. I don't know why even the base images wouldn't load, but they didn't. If worse comes to worse, I'm going to have to drag out my notes, and try and code the thing from scratch. I added two paragraphs near the end of the design intent page, which I had forgotten to include the first time around. I could do some more tonight, but I've had very little sleep. I'm going to take somewhat of a break, but there still may be further updates today... Ok, I'm back, and the menu finally works. The major problem seemed to be the format that I had saved the images in... I had saved them as CMYK jpegs (I often do for printing purposes for school), as opposed to RGB jpegs... after a long time of trying to hunt the problem, and this part being found and changed, it started to work (at least, in my browser preview)... |
