In the Star Trek Universe the Maquis fight to recover their lost culture and homes. In the "real world" the Maquis help those less fortunate. Instead of fighting Cardassians; we fight hunger, homelessness, helplessness, abuse, and illiteracy. We perform this charitable work while dressed as our Maquis counterparts. The crew of the Ka'la is comprised of individuals of many races and beliefs.
