Gun CameraU to ZThe Vision of EscaflowneType: TV SeriesGenre: Fantasy In the same vein as Magic Knight Rayearth, the high-fantasy story of Escaflowne transports a Japanese schoolgirl into a medieval world of magic, where knights don mecha instead of armor, and Fate is a dominant force in live, love and war. The schoolgirl in this story is an amateur diviner who becomes involved with a young king, whom she literally runs into one fateful night. ![]() ![]() Zaibach pilot Dilandau with Guymelfe Alseides (left panel), King Van of Fanelia and schoolgirl Hitomi on Escaflowne (right panel) Escaflowne has already spawned two mangas: a shoujo (girl-comic) and a shounen (boy-comic) version, both of which change the look and some of the story of the original. Imitators are likely to follow, and some may actually be better than the original, but this is one series that should not be missed.
