Flash
Bang Grenades
This
grenade is basically rolled or tossed into a room filled with bad guys
and when exploded creates a large boom and flash of light disorienting
the victims. The grenade has a 1.5 second delay between detonation and
discharge. When discharged, the sound level of the flashbang is 174.5 dBs
at five feet. The light is 2,420,000 candela. The duration of the sight
and sounds explosion is nine milliseconds. This particular weapon of course
does no damage.
Penalties:
The victim is stunned and minus one attack that melee.
Tactical
Lights
Basically
Tactical Lights on ANY weapon are used for target aquisition and positive
identification in a tactical situation. These are more than a pen light
taped to a rifle, each has to be made to sustain the weapons recoil and
match in durability. It is operated by a pressure button on the stock.
When held down the light is on, when pressure is released, the light is
off. Simple. They can either use lithium or rechargable batteries (lithium
batteries having a shelf life of 10 years, so it will always be ready on
a light not often used). Lithium batteries are expensive, and so rechargable
batteries make more sense when using a frequently used light. That's about
it.
AN/PVS-7B
Night Vision goggles
The
AN/PVS-7B has been heralded as the best night vision goggles in the world
today. Initially, the
AN/PVS-7B
was designed to augment the PVS-5.
Changes
in the 7B:
Better
resolution due to improvements in the luminous enchancers, operational
for over 40 hours on two AA batteries, improved head harness that is more
comfortable and attaches to the Kevlar helmet, quick release lever (allows
one-handed mounting), integrated compass, and an automatic cutoff switch
if exposed to intense light to preserve the image intensifier.
Method
of Operation:
The
AN/PVS-7B's prisms and lenses provide Rangers with binocular-type vision.
The PVS-7 series NVG’s incorporate a hermetically sealed image intensifier
to deliver unsurpassed vision during conditions of limited visibility.
Primary
function: Image intensifying, passive binoculars which allow Rangers
to perform tasks at night or
under
low light level conditions.

Thoughts
from the soldier:
The
AN/PVS-7B are hands down the best night vision goggles available today.
Recently, the 1st Ranger Battalion became the 1st Unit to do a Company-sized
Live Fire Exercise in an IR spectrum (see Infantry Magazine). Night Vision
needs to be regarded as a tool, not a crutch. Night Vision allows Rangers
to detect the enemy before he detects you, and that is what the game is
all about. In room clearing there is alot of debate concerning the issue
of IR. I'm from the old school and to me nothin' beats a trusty Sure-Fire
white light to surprise/blind/startle the enemy. I do feel that night vision
is a key advantage for supporting fires. AIM-1's along with Littons allow
Rangers to deliver suppressive fire more accurate than ever before. It
brings a whole new meaning to "one shot, one kill" at night. The incorporated
compass was an ingenious idea. Only don't try to rely on it for navigation,
the metal in the head harness will throw the compass off 15 degrees. It
is useful as a quick guide when general directions are needed (within 20
degrees).
Tac
Board and Mini Underwater GPS Reciever
This
small hand held unit combines an underwater compass, depth gauge and watch.
A defenite must have for your favorite Frogman.
The
MUGR has a floating antenna and is about the size of an oversized calculator.
Bayonets
The
M7 bayonet-knife is used as a bayonet on the M16 rifle series, the M4 carbine
and as a hand weapon. The M9 multipurpose bayonet system is used as a bayonet
on the M16 rifle series, on the M4 carbine series, as a hand weapon, as
a general field and utility knife as well as a wire cutter together with
its scabbard, and as a saw.
The
M9 was created originally as the official bayonet of the U. S. Army. The
handle is made of Zytel (a registered trademark of DuPont). Major features
include a sawtooth back edge to cut wood, metal, rope or ice. Coupled with
the pivot peg on its sheath, the M9 is an efficient wire cutter. It even
has a built in bottle opener, and in the brown cordura pouch is an emergency
honing stone.
Overall
length is 12 1/4", blade length is 7 1/8" handle is 5 1/8" and the M9 is
available in natural steel finish or black oxide finish.
Damage:

S.D. (Slash), 3D6 (Stab)
*With
W.P. Knife the Player is capable of removing a threat quietly with a knife
(there is a method of disposing of bad guys with a knife but I don't think
I'll post that, however it is located in one of Richard Marcinko's 'Rogue
Warrior' books if you want to find out for yourself).
Marksman
Elite
This
is a ruggedley designed scope, made to handle tough use and has enough
power and capabilities to meet most needs. These scopes are quality optics
in a package that's attractive and easy to use.
The
scopes come with protective lens covers (the slip on kind, connected with
elastic cords), a battery, and a lens cleaning cloth. It is finished in
an attractive black matte finish with white lettering. It's only draw back
is it's weight of about 1pound but this isn't too significant as most would
rather have a heavier scope that's durable, than a lighter which is unable
to take the punishment of constant use.
The
Elite scopes are waterproof, fogproof, dustproof, and shockproof. so the
goods obviously outweigh the bads.
The
scope can be mounted on either flattop recivers (no carry handle on AR-!5/M-16),
or it can quickly be mounted on top of the carry handle numerous times
while mantaining a zero. It also has a see through channel underneath for
iron sights.

in amphibious reconnaissance operations.
Manufacturer:
Coastal Systems Station
Weight:

Endurance:
200 minutes
Using
Units: Select deployed SOC elements
Unit Replacement Cost: $6,000
Features:The
DPD is a man-portable device capable of propelling a diver at one knot.
It has enough power to last the duration of the diver's O2 canister. Power
is provided by rechargable gel-cel lead oxide batteries connected to two
drive motors. The DPD will capitalize on the stealth of Over-The-Horizon
(OTH) operations. Diver survivability and mission accomplishment will be
improved by the use of a propulsion unit allowing the diver to conserve
energy. The DPD will also provide a platform for real-time intelligence
collection, while decreasing the possibility of detection by allowing the
diver to stay submerged.

All
the elite forces use some type of these now. This particular version is
the outstanding 31SF00 model made by Blackhawk Industries. The LBV has
four pockets across the chest that holds 8 - M16 mags. Below on each side
there are two grenade holders. Olive green, Woodland or Desert military
