Akadle: (ah-kahd-lay) a five-braided dwarf; boyhood friend of Benchadarga

Altaranga: (al-da-ran-ga) the world of which Tarja is a resident

Ashla: (awsh-lah) land of the Elven kind

Bethana: (be-tha-na) a formal teacher, normally refers to a teacher of Mages

Bestowed: to be born with some type of power in a magical field

Benchadarga Jerdardlek (BJ) Cuum: (ben-a-dar-ga ger-dard-lek (bee jay) cyoom) a dwarf

Braids: the social status of a dwarf; from the un-braided, for children, imbeciles, and the exiled to the ten-braid, the chief of the clan. All types of braids, two to nine represent other steps in the social ladder and one can be elevated by a recommendation from one of higher rank, which is unlikely because as a general rule, dwarves don't mingle with those of a lower braid, except for children.

Brako: (bra-ko) a Dwarven clan chief

Dindre: (din-dray) the Dwarf who consolidated all of the Dwarves into the Kor-Haggead

D'ladre: (dee-lawd-ray) the code of policies for all of the Kor-Haggead

Dorpha: (door-fa) the country of which Tarja's father is king

Dorfian:(dor-fee-an) language of the Humans of Dorpha.

The Great Prophecy: the final words of the great prophet.

The Great Prophet: Kirthaim d'Roshka; man who predicted many things; gave Great Prophesy

Habradu: (ha-bra-doo) what Dwarves call Dwarven country; tresspassers on Habradu can be killed for the offense

Kfexus: (ka-fe-koos) large creatures that travel in packs, can only be controlled by a strong magician; Kfexus look like huge thorns with wings, legs, and a ‘face' on the tip of the thorn; they kill by driving their head into their pray and eating from the inside out

Kor-haggead: (kawr-haggead) dwarven name for other dwarves

Jazer: (ha-zer) a small stone with matal clasps at the edges, used to Travel;can be combined into groups of up to four people

Jotbah: (hot-bah) the center of learning for all Riblama

Mahala: (ma-ha-la) the Minor entertainer in Dorpha court; first teacher of Tarja

Mekop: (may-kop) nine-braid; a "politician": friend of BJ

Nobah: (no-bah) a formal student of magic

Nrocinu: (nro-see-noo) and evil Unicorn

Order of the Riblama: Prente (Prentai: plural), Minor, Major, Master

Radal: (rah-dahl) a magical artifact

Riblama: (ri-bla-ma) a graduate of the Jotbah; also used to refer to a person who was Bestowed

Ryokpe: (ree-ock-pay) seven-braid; master Widler; boyhood friend of BJ

Schrada: (sh-ra-da) a dwarven family name

Sibmah: (sib-mah) father of Tarja and King of Dorpha; resides in Castle Garanga

Summer: one year

Tarja d'Garanga: (tar-ha dee ga-ran-ga) son of Sibmah d' Garanga, King of Dorpha; four winters of age (twenty summers old)

Tindra'ada: (tin-drah-ada) the sacred language of the Dwarves. This is used in most magical spells and all religious rites

Udwa: (ood-wa) land of the Trolls

White one: what the dwarves call humans, when they speak to one at all

Widler: (wid-ler) a Dwarven healer

Winter: equivalent to five Summers

Yogbehag: (yog-beh-hag) a shoulder pad with clasps, used to Travel

Zikra: (zik-ra) a killer monkey, native to the forest which surrounds the Dlaka

Zikrim: (zik-reem) plural form of Zikra
