This is a topic that has been debated for some time. Are Penance and M related? Although there is still no definate answer, it is believed that they are at least sisters. Astoundingly, ten people said that there was no relation between each other at all. These people most likely overlook the letters column in Generation X. They said in one of the teen issues, I believe, that they are sisters, but didn't specify whether they were twins. Some of the reasons these ten people gave can be easily explained. A couple people mentioned that because they said Penance was from Yugoslavia and Monet from Algeria, there is no way they can be related. Let me tell you something, people can be born and raised in different places. Of course it's possible that Penance simply grew up mostly in Yugoslavia, and M in Algeria, or perhaps she was just in Yugoslavia when Gateway took her from Emplate.
Fourteen of those people that voted 'Other' answered correctly that they were sisters, but not twins (or at least they have no proof). Good for you guys! There were also three people who voted that god-awful theory that M is a combination of the twins that have been mentioned (one person said Penance was the combo). I have no comment on that, except for 'ugh.' Guess only time will tell on this one.
