Background: Very little is known about the mysterious man called Bastion. He literally came out of nowhere just as the psionic menace Onslaught surfaced and was destroyed, letting the world know that Operation: Zero Tolerance was in effect. O:ZT is basically an organization he runs that has a goal of destroying all mutants for the good of humanity. But this isn't just another terrorist group, O:ZT is apparently supported by the United States government, whether the government knows just how Bastion and his little army are handling things is anyone's guess, but most likely they do not.

Since Bastion's step into the light of the world, he has been involved secretly in countless events. From J. Jonah Jameson's murdered employee, to the possible connection to the Creed assassination, to inprisoning Professor Charles Xavier and doing with him as he likes at his base of operations which holds possibly hundreds of mutants captive.

It is rumored that Bastion may be the thought-destroyed Nimrod, who disappeared into the Siege Perilous some time ago. This was brought up especially when Bastion was doing a scan through Jubilee's mind, trying to find out valuable information on the X-Men, and the scanners picked up Bastion's memories instead, showing him naked and tattooed, emerging from a thick pinkish liquid. The first thing he said in this memory was "Finally." Whatever his origin may be, it is sure that Bastion will have a strong impact on what the future of mutants shall be, as he unleashes a new breed of Sentinals; the Prime Sentinals.
