The crew of the Magellan was returning from their lunar mission, chronicled in Monsters of the Moon #3. They were having trouble getting a fix on their landing site and all radio communications were out. A strange brownish cloud seemed to cover the entire North American continent. Finally, they crew was able to make contact with a control tower at a municipal airport, several hundred miles north of their expected landing site. Using the tower's signal as a fix, they were able to land a few miles south of the municipal airport at an Air Force base.
The crew still had two wounded aboard, Dr. Warner and George Grady, the rocket engineer and driver, respectively. The Magellan was also transorting a prisoner that was captured on the moon.
Captain Williams ordered a security perimeter immediately and began making plans to locate more water to use as reaction mass to allow the Magellan to fly back to the landing site as soon as communications could be restored and the strange brown cloud lifted. Once the security perimeter was established, Captain Williams led a team to attempt to contact the commander of the Air Force base. The team encountered impassable terrain within a few hundred yards of the ship. They also found the air to become toxic or, at least, oxygen deprived.
Williams then led a team to recon the surrounding towns. There they encountered cannibalistic children and strange beasts that appeared to be from another world. They also contacted a small group of people organized to resist the strange alien beasts.
Finally, some "emeralds" appeared, in a trail, leading north from the Magellan. This was obvious placed there by some one wanting the crew to follow it. Without having much other choice, Williams led a heavily armed team to follow the trail. While doing so, they encountered a group of people from the town who were organizing a convoy to escape from this hellish nightmare. The team from the Magellan was unable to persuade them to return to the ship with them until the people encountered the impassable terrain. It was at that time that the team met up, again, with the survivors of the group that was actively fighting the alien creatures.
Williams ordered all of the civilian back to the ship where they could be protected within the security perimeter which had been steadily improved since the previous day when the Magellan landed. Once back at the ship, the crew detected a large explosion and Williams led a team to investigate.
At the site of the explosion, the team found the remains of a small alien transport. Located within the wreckage was a furry, insectoid alien. The alien told them that he was here to help them when his tranport collided with some power lines. Not believing the alien, Williams had his team deploy defesively, as the alien led them to the "secret base."
Once there, the true plans of the aliens were revealed as written in Flight 13. The team from the Magellan then discovered that the aliens had captured the rest of the crew along with the civilians. The team then fought the aliens and freed the captives. During the fight, Williams and Gordon were both injured, but the crew managed to save themselves and many of the civilians. They located an alien saucer craft and managed to fly it into hyper-space.
The flight into hyper-space effectively ended the role-playing of the psuedo-humans and the players resumed the landing of the Magellan at their landing site without incident.
