Savar William Dickinson

Vulcan. Starfleet Officer, currently serving on the USS Luna. Savar Dickinson holds the rank of Commander as of Stardate 10112.03 and serves as the Executive Officer and Acting Counselor of the USS Luna.

Savar Dickinson was born on Vulcan on Stardate 7009.17 to parents Johon Dickinson of Vulcan and T’Kat of Vulcan. Due to a problem during the birth, T’Kat was killed. At the age of four, Johon remarried, this time a human mate, Judy. Judy was an important influence in Savar’s early life.

Savar was recognized at an early age as having advanced mental and telepathic skills, even for a Vulcan. His skills were not finely honed until he reached maturity, but certain advanced training techniques were required during adolescence. Fully developed, Savar will have the ability to project thoughts, much as a Betazoid would. At current, he can communicate only with other telepaths who have contacted him. It will be many years until his telepathic powers come to full term. Savar can also sense other life forms that seem to be out of the relative time frame.

During Savar’s early schooling, he was taught the standard Vulcan schooling. However, due to his father’s new mate, Savar found a fascination with emotions that other Vulcans lack. It was due to this, and the urgings of his mother, that Savar entered Starfleet Medical, Psychology Division. There, his mentor, Admiral Weis, helped Savar through difficult times where he believed he could never understand emotions.

In order to help Savar, Admiral Weis sent then Cadet Dickinson on a mission to study Betazed culture. It was this during this time that Savar met Amber Golis. The two were good friends at the time, and felt more for each other. However, at the time, Savar could not accept a non-Vulcan mate, and refused Amber’s advances until much later in life.

During his term at Starfleet Medical, he was requested to go along on a field training mission. Starfleet was sending a humanitarian rescue mission to a planet near the Orion border, where Orion raiders had caused a civilian vessel to crash land. Survivors were minimal, but alive and in need of rescue. When the ship containing the cadets arrived, an Orion freighter ambushed them. Savar’s level headedness and psychology background allowed Savar to eventually infuriate the Orion captain after fourteen hours of negotiations. From that time on, Savar always had a professional respect towards Orions, even if he did not agree with their ideals.

Savar also had background training in many other aspects of Starfleet. He worked on the command track, as well as training as a tactical officer and as a science officer, along with full medical training. During training, Savar was assigned the role of tactical officer aboard a derelict vessel that was located somewhere in deep space with two other cadets. The cadets were given the task of making the ship operational or contacting a rescue party. The ship proved to be unsalvageable, but the cadets still worked to contact other vessels. The cadets managed to attract an unknown ship, and an attempt to contact the vessel was made. The communications system blew out again, and as a last resort, the cadets attempted an antimatter spread to attract the attention of the other vessel. This proved to be a mistake, since the other vessel proved to be a Jem’Hadar patrol ship, now damaged from the antimatter spread. The cadets were beamed aboard, and placed in holding cells. Savar immediately took command of the cadets, and led them on an escape mission, capturing the vessel in the process, and taking it back to Starfleet. An unofficial commendation for original thinking and leadership under pressure was awarded to Cadet Savar.

Savar graduated on Stardate 9811.04. He was granted the rank of ensign, and assigned to Arcadia Station as Counselor at his graduation.

Savar made the acquaintance of many cadets while in Starfleet Academy, however two others formed a close group with Savar. One has since retired, but the other has gone on to many greater things. Now Commander Serena Sheridan, Executive Officer of the U.S.S. Nighthawk, met Savar while they both were in Starfleet Medical, Psychology Division. Serena became the Counselor of the U.S.S. Geneva, and later the U.S.S. Quirinus, when she graduated with Savar. The two maintain contact, and continue to attempt to have Serena’s ship stop for shore leave at Arcadia Station.

Savar reported for duty on Stardate 9811.09, under the command of Captain Jason Reed. Captain Reed was half-Vulcan, the only other Vulcan staff member. One of Savar’s early missions was when a malicious spirit took control of the computer core, forcing the crew to do its bidding. Savar was forced to telepathically connect to the computer core, fighting the spirit. Due to this meritous service above and beyond the call of duty, Captain Reed awarded Savar a commendation and a promotion to Lieutenant, Junior Grade on Stardate 9908.30. The Dominion War moved closer to Arcadia Station on 9902.15, and a Commodore Plet commandeered Arcadia as a Research and Development facility. Counselor Savar was a pivotal crewmember, forcing Plet into admitting he was a member of Section 31 before committing suicide. After Captain Reed left on a diplomatic mission, Savar Dickinson was temporarily promoted to Executive Officer of Arcadia Station.

Captain Jeffery Morgan took over command of Arcadia Station on Stardate 9911.28 and Savar went back to Counselor, along with the added task of Second Officer.

The Bellicose Invasion occurred after the change of command. The Bellicose began an invasion of Federation space, and a state of war was declared. Arcadia Station became a research and development station, and the only captured Bellicose ship was taken to Arcadia to be reverse engineered. A team of engineers and scientists went aboard the vessel, along with a full security detail. The security detail proved to be the most important part of the mission, as there were several Bellicose still alive in the ship. The station, in order to defend itself against the might of the Bellicose, was forced to beam each off the station, and fire full phaser beams at them. Counselor Savar was commended for meritous service and give the Legion of Honor, as well as a promotion to full Lieutenant on Stardate 1101.31 as a result of the actions of the crew of Arcadia. Counselor Savar also was on hand to play a large part in the negotiations with a race known as the Skree. It was during this time, that Savar met Skroth, the Skree ambassador. Skroth later saved the U.S.S. Thomas from certain destruction.

Counselor Savar’s personal life has played second to his duties as a Starfleet Officer, yet Savar has married twice and had children. His first mate was M’Caela of Vulcan, who bore two children, T’Lara and a stillborn. T’Lara remained the child of Savar after his divorce from M’Caela. Savar is now remarried to Amber Golis of Betazed. Amber remains on Betazed at this time, to be free from the dangers of Starfleet life.

Counselor Savar was recently awarded the Starfleet Distinguished Service Award, along with Doctor Keely Calahan on Stardate 10006.26. A traveling Ferengi circus brought aboard a crystal ball containing the katra of one of the first High Masters of Vulcan, imprisoned by High Priestess T’Las. Keely and Savar used their telepathic powers to re-imprison the katra in the crystal ball. Captain Morgan had the crystal destroyed, which Savar objected to in his log, since Vulcans hold their own in high esteem.

Doctor Keely Calahan and Savar have been through much together, being the only telepaths on the station. The two of them have proven a tough telepathic force on several occasions, where the force of Savar’s mind, melded with the range and power of Keely’s developing powers, have helped the crew. Savar hopes to befriend the Doctor, and know her as more than the impressions left in his mind. Savar also hopes to help Keely, due to her shrouded personal past.

Andran Dickinson

Vulcan. Starfleet Officer, Lieutenant Junior Grade. Currently assigned as an Engineering Officer aboard the U.S.S. Hornet. Born 7809.24.

Andran Dickinson is the brother to Starfleet Officer Savar Dickinson of Arcadia Station. He has followed his brother's footsteps and become a Starfleet cadet, studying to become an engineer.

Andran attained the rank of Ensign on Stardate 10009.15, and was posted to Utopia Planetia for a small time before he was given a post on the U.S.S. Hornet.

Andran was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade on Stardate 10107.14 due to meritous service above and beyond the call of duty.

Amber Lauren Golis

Betazoid. Civilian. Born 7101.31.

Amber and Savar met while Savar was studying abroad on Vulcan on the orders of Admiral Weis. Amber immediately felt romantic feelings for Savar, but his cultural upbringing prevented them from becoming mates until later in their lives.

Amber began her life attracted to a great deal of things in her world. Space was her first love, and Amber saw space as a way to look into the future. Her father was a civilian Chief Engineering Officer aboard the S.S. Blue Moon, and he took her out into space as much as he was allowed. Her father has had several brushes with death while Amber was aboard, once being attacked by Klingon pirates. The Blue Moon was only saved by the intervention of Captain Williamson of the U.S.S. Vanguard.

During her teenage life, Amber began to lean towards a space career, and was interested in Starfleet originally. However, she failed her two attempts to get in, and instead applied for and was accepted into the Betazed Science Academy. She spent several years in the Academy, visiting worlds of the Federation as she studied to become a science officer and a computer technician. It happened that her training and that of Cadet Savar Dickinson crossed paths while they were on Betazed together. She was to spend time with the Starfleet cadets and assist them on their mission. She immediately became a friend to Savar, working together with him on all aspects of the mission. However, her feelings for Savar could not be expressed, since Savar had expressed that he had no interest in a non-Vulcan at that time.

Amber continued working within the Betazed Science Academy as a teacher. This helped her transfer to a position as a children’s science teacher, fulfilling her dream to work with the future.
