I mentioned the Great Quad before so here are some photographs of the Great Quad.

Well, in particular, photographs of Tom Tower. Tom Tower is a later addition to the Great Quad actually. It's part of Oxford's skyline, one of the more distinctive features of it, actually. The bell inside Tom Tower rings 101 times every night at 9:05. Some say this is to commemorate the first 101 scholars in Christ Church, others joke it's a warning to students who are outside the gates that the gates will be closing soon, get their kiester's back to the school. So, here is Tom Tower, in all its glory. You would think that having 101 bells ring every night at 9:05 would be annoying. But it wasn't. You hardly even registered them, unless you were in Tom Quad itself. The bell is so loud there, that 5 tolls are more then enough!

These upper two are the better pictures of Tom Tower that I have. One is obviously striking because of the darkness of the Tower against the lightness of the sky.

This other one just looks really pretty.

There is a picture of Tom Tower and the Great Quad without the fountain in the middle. It used to only have a simple round patch of grass.

The formation of the Quad is that of a cross and circle.

The two photos further down are not as pretty as the one to the right and above. The one on the lower left is nice, but it looks too much like a postcard for my tastes. In fact, I think I sent some people postcards like that. The one on the lower right, well.. the person decided to center me in the picture by the fountain rather then getting the top of Tom Tower into the photo.
