Meet Richard Washington:

The Mortal Behind the Beard

ell, folks, this is where you get to know the real moi: Richard Washington, webmaster, grumbler, adventurer, Buccaneer-in-Training --- and pretty much one man at war with the big guys (David vs. Goliath, that sort of thing). Anyway, for now, this is gonna be my Mundane segment, so you guys can get a load of my online stuff, which will be frequently posted as I see fit. Enjoy!

For now, here's some of what this Mundane page will feature:

First, check out the exclusive jump links to six other component sites created and maintained by yours truly: KringleQuest.com; Uncle Fergus' Bagpipers' Paradise!; Edward VII: The Homepage; The Quartet of the Longbeards; Tales from Berenicia and Old Man Fiddler!

Then, explore my tribute to the Pagemaster, Keeper of the Books and Guardian of the Written Word; and to David Kirschner's film production, starring Macaulay Culkin and Christopher Lloyd, which tells the Pagemaster's tale. Plus, explore Blackwolf's Library Links, where you can journey to several of the Pagemaster's favorite libraries!

Here, too, you may find Blackwolf's partners in eccentricity: Master Thoth (note that he stopped using the S.K.!), whose Oscar-winning documentary was previously seen on Cinemax' Reel Life (Sheila Nevins, I could kiss you!), and is now available from the ol' loony in the loincloth himself; and of course, that Stetson-clad Western dude in the Jockey shorts, the Naked Cowboy!

Since I grew up during the Seventies, I was among the few that had the chance to listen to the real WABC Radio. Check out this way cool tribute to Musicradio 77 WABC!

I was among the several who pledged a very special allegiance to Epcot's magical duo, Dreamfinder and Figment --- which explains why there's a whole page devoted to their memory. It's T.J. Warner's Figment's Imagination, Version 8.0 which also links to the official site starring Figment's original voice, the late Billy Barty, and to the official pages of Billy's two nonprofit organizations, Little People of America, Inc. and the Billy Barty Foundation. On June 1, 2002, Figment returned to his Epcot home, and accordingly, the International Order of the Friends of Figment made the obligatory move to a new home, where, among other things, Dreamfinder's loyal fans can still check out Emuck.com's interview with Ron Schneider, the original living form of Dreamfinder!

Among the projects I had wanted to develop for some time was a film adaptation of Elisabeth Beresford's "The Wombles." Johanna Cormier's Womble Lovers' Page has a brand-new host, and even more new ways to learn more about them! Of course, my Really Big Dream continues to be that live-action/CGI adaptation of Norton Juster's "The Phantom Tollbooth," one that would bring together the combined resources of Industrial Light & Magic and Jim Henson's Creature Shop. As ever, if anything comes up on it, I'll let you know.

As Halloween happens to be among my semi-favorite holidays, well, I need not tell you that only one wench is the undisputed Queen of all Halloween: Elvira, Mistress of the Dark! Her site reminds me, oddly, of my slightly twisted side --- which explains why Blackwolf has me linked to L.A.'s Coven 13 Nightclub page. (It's here on the Mundane segment because a lot of its material is intended for mature audiences. You know the deal.)

You might wonder what my thing is about linking to the home page of one Gordon E. Peterson II, from Houston, TX. Well, Gordon's page is one of my favorites because, among other things, he has the one of the best beards I've ever seen on a Texan!

Another of Debbie D's friends, who just happens to share her first name, is Debbie Dutch. As is the case with the site of Club Coven 13, be warned that her site is intended for mature viewers.

Also for mature viewers: Blackwolf's new pals, the Imperial Court of New York; the obviously ultra-inspired Naked Cowgirl; the very hilarious but incredibly horny Scotty, the Blue Bunny --- as well as the most insane filmmakers in the Multiverse (and Thor the Barbarian's #1 influence) --- Lloyd Kaufman's Troma Pictures!

I also like bikers --- because to me, they're America's Last Pirates! Rolling Thunder, Inc. is a group of former Veterans who ride their beloved steeds from Harley-Davidson; while Biker Billy Hufnagle, he who Cooks with Fire, is the only Harley-lovin' chef on public-access television --- and then, you have these guys: The Star of Davidson Motorcycle Club from Armonk, NY --- who got writ up a while back in the New York Times! And most recently, I had the pleasure of briefly encountering the Southern Cruisers' Motorcycle Club, who are really really tough, and do tend to beat up everybody else. But only when they choose to. (Lest we forget: a lot of bikers are Vietnam Veterans, so this website also supports the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund!)

Like a good many of you out there, there have been times when I've had to stand up for America and all she holds dear. Which is why recently Blackwolf alerted me to the Re-energize America homepage co-founded by, among others, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. I think this site has something very important to say. Please visit it. We also wanna remind you that there's still a lot of information you can check out if you wanna help those who continue to be affect by Katrina, Rita and their aftermaths. Please check out these websites: RedCross.org; Doctors Without Borders; UNICEF.org; Oxfam America; NetworkforGood.org and the AmeriCares Foundation.

And last but not least, me oldest, most venerable links are here: my Page o' Legal Stuff and the IndexCenter!
