and here's an interesting space link that many of you have never seen before ...it's hosted by the SCI-FI Channel and it's called I NSIDE SPACE..if you watch the Sci-Fi channel then you've probably seen an episode or two during commercials...

...for my webtv friends..here is a page from KSC that has over 280 MPEG movies of Shuttle launches and landings and everything in between...!!! Plus tons of still images for printing too...

...it seems that NASA is taking the possibility of life on Mars quite seriously these days as several federal agencies and NASA have banded together to design a lab that would house rock samples from Mars under a very strict quarantine...The return samples from Mars could contain live bacteria or viruses and scientist are making elaborate plans to protect us from these possible live germs.......we can expect a rock sample to be returned in about 10 years or less..

..While we're on the subject of life in the solar system....the latest images from the Galileo spacecraft have been released by NASA.....just released are some seriously closeup images of Europa, Jupiters most likely life bearing moon....as reported in last months column, funding has been approved for a robotic mission to Europa in 2002..but Galileo continues to bring Jupiter to Earth now in spectacular fashion...!!

...the STARDUST lauch date nears as man attempts his first ever return to earth of a cometdust sample...

The LUNAR PROSPECTOR has discovered water on the MOON...!!!...a DOD satellite first discovered the possibility of water/ice on the moon in 1993 but the Lunar Prospector has confirmed it..!!!....we may soon be playing some killer ice hockey there....rumour has it that when John Glenn returns from his Shuttle mission in Oct that Gordie Howe may be going to the moon so that NASA can study the effects of lunar ice and light gravity on old hockey players...you may view the news conference livehere online...

...and let's not forget about poor old Voyager...left out in the deep cold of interstellar space....you've all heard by now that Voyager is officially the farthest man made object from Earth...well beyond the orbit of PLUTO.....well don't forget about V'GER in Star trek The Motion Picture...IT CAME BACK...!!!

...and finally here, the missions yet to come.... yes folks...we do have another launch to MARS this year in DEC and then another a month later (Jan 99)....this pair of Martian bound craft are called Mars Surveyor98 and includes the Mars Polar Lander and The Mars Climate Orbiter.......people..I think NASA is looking for something on Mars..signs of ancient life maybe..??...the Polar Lander is due for arrival in Dec 99 and The Climate Orbiter 3 months earlier....

...ah and the conspiracies mount.......the Men in Black try to convince you that what you saw was only VENUS......that VENUS , low in the night sky has been known to cause engineers to derail trains thinking the light was an oncoming train.....well let me show you an image here from

VENUS.....an arachnoid as it is called....... 

....now let's talk about UFO's for a second here.....if you want to know anything at all about UFO's, government coverups, conspiracies and pretty much anything else to do with the subject then there is really only one place on the internet to go for deep files....and it's the BLACK VAULT......a very well put together site by a bright fellow named John.........Our hats are off to John and the Black Vault..!!!

...So....a minuteman missile was destroyed unexpectedly recently during a test and military officials claim they don't know why....the missile was in third stage and exploded unexpectedly in the upper atmosphere....did a meteor or space junk hit it or was it destroyed by a UFO..???...Read between the lines in this article and then decide for yourself what is most likely the truth...

.....and while we're out here on the fringe...picture yourself swimming in a warm lake, with the sun high in the sky, the waves lapping.....only your on a beach on MARS....look at this image and tell me it wasn't a lake at some point in Martian history.....this is a very recent image from The Mars Global Surveyor

 

...let me share a little story with you about my first few days on the internet last summer.....in my first chatroom (an html based chat in Ultimatetv.com).I met a fellow Sci-fi fan who showed me some neat pics and stuff....I was very new to the whole web and he answered many of my questions about the net and webtv.....well, we became friends over time and eventually he asked to me start writing a space column for his monthly online SCI-FI digizine called The Sci-Fi BuZz and Travelling Circus.....I graciously accepted and this is how I started this column last July... .....now...The Sci-Fi Buzz is no longer.....it's founder has run off to Germany to help deplete a massive beer glut there ...and I am left on my own with no more cyber-roof over my head....this bird has left the nest.....on a final note I'd like to thank Quantumfreak for getting me started with this column and I shall carry the torch proudly......goodbye Sci-Fi Buzz...
