Sarishan - The Cats of Egypt

The Sarishan were the original pride of Cats. Due to their many years in worship from the humans, they took to power and controled the Nile, claiming themselves to be gods.

Reclaiming the tomps and empty palaces for their own, they took up the society of the Egyptians. Since many of the Egyptian gods and goddesses were of animal nature, the religious beliefs were easy to pick up. The written language of hieroglyphs was also established and easy to read, so they continued on with what the humans had left behind.

Becoming nomadic, bands of Cats left the Pride Lands for Europe. They settled into the lower European nations, adopting the cultures man had left behind and adding it to their own traditions and customs. Though known for their great skills at entertainers, the other races regarded them distrustfully.

As more and more Cats came into Europe, the High Priestess in Egypt saw that the land above the Pride Lands was fruitful and desired to make it a part of her realm. She sent out attack force after attack force, all specially trained in the magical arts and in fighting. The Cats' special tactics put the other races off their guard and allowed the Cats to move forward at an alarming rate.

Filled with greed, the High Priestess continued her onslaught, not seeing that the Dogs had grouped together in Scotland and had devised special tactics of their own. Angered by their insolence to bow down to her higher being, she made her troops fight harder. Already weakened by the long battles already fought, their demise was made final when the Dogs forced them back down into England, where the Rats grouped together with the Birds and the Dogs, making them now a power too strong to hold back. Forced back down into the Pride Lands, the Cats could only muster enough strength to keep the Dogs at bay and lick their wounds.

The Sarishan has not forgotten the defeat of their race and have vowed to one day reclaim the world with a force that none of the other races can match. To this day, each succession of the High Priestess is trained in the art of warfare and magical battle. She is raised in the hopes that she will be the one who will take the world back over. Until that one powerful Priestess comes, however, the Cats try to fit into the societies and wait.
