Renaissance Garb

This is garb from my second year at Faire. The dress itself is the same as the one in my "basic" dress. For this variation, started with the same stomacher construction ideas. I then added an overskirt of crushed pane velvet from Wal-Mart. All I did was sew it on with a running stitch, using very heavy carpeting thread, just under the bodice. Then, find a fancy rope belt in a dollar store or about 2 yards or more (you'll need 5 or more if you want it to wrap twice and hang to the ground)of fancy rope-type stuff from the fabric store. I also used a pouch sewn from leather scraps, and a pewter mug from the Salvation Army. I also added a Juliet cap, snood (hair net), and tartan sash, as my character was developing as the Scottish Laird I am now. I'll go into more detail about what to carry and such on my accessories page.
I got loads of compliments from commoners and royalty alike. Be confident. As I said in other pages, as a mundane you do not have to hold to all the rukles an actor needs to. Go and have FUN!
