This is an overview of the pieces of garb that you should probably have for your Faire wardrobe. FOR MEN (again, peasant class): There are many things which make garb "come alive." A person just wearing a chemise, bodice and skirt, or a shirt, doublet and pants is simply not complete. You must remember that, in period, people did not have pockets, pubs did not necessarially have glasses available, cutlery was a personal item, and a merchant would carry his or her "tools of the trade" with them to identify what they did.
FOR WOMEN (peasant class):
A chemise (the shirt)
A bodice/corset - a bodice had shoulder straps of some sort, a corset is strapless. (I highly suggest buying these - it's quite difficult to make one you'll be comfortable in all day if you're not experienced!)
A skirt - these may be layered, with the top layer pulled up, or of a different length.
A shirt
Pants
Doublet/jerkin (the vest or jacket)
Hats
Belts
Bags/pouches
Weapons
Shoes
Miscellaneous
