Dejah Thoris
I've wanted to paint Dejah Thoris for some time, and this
is my first attempt. The pose is based on a belly-dance posture,
the sword is a practice rapier and the clothing is based on a
combination of eastern dance and classical Aikido robes.
I wanted to create an image of female physical perfection
- strength, grace and great beauty of form - to capture the essence
of the Princess of Helium.

Tara
Portrait of one of the most inspiring of the princesses
of Barsoom, Tara of Helium.

Red Lady
A portrait of a red noblewoman, apparently well-traveled.
She wears a gold earring and a cape of orluk fur.

Princess
An attempt at illustrating a "typical" Barsoomian
woman, long-boned, graceful and delicate in appearance, adapted
to Martian gravity.
Rather pleasant to think about, but doesn't make for particulary
good cover art. After all, the hero should be taller than the
damsel, no matter what planet he's from.

Untitled
Somewhere on Barsoom. I don't know where. This
is an early attempt at watercolor painting, about fifteen years
after my last piece was done (in high school, c. 1985).
