I can barely remember a world without Star Wars. I was 6 when A NEW HOPE first hit the theaters.
I didn't get to see it at that time, because my mom heard that someone got their arm chopped off. To this day it's still one of my favorite scenes. I can still remember my first bit of Star Wars Merchandise. A friend gave me a Topp's Sticker of C-3PO & R2-D2... I stuck it on my bunkbed. Although the improvements to the Special Edition are nice, there is a special place in my heart for the original version of Star Wars, A New Hope.

Was the Empire really all that bad?

  • Emperor Palpatine brought Law & Order to an entire galaxy.
  • The Stormtrooper Corps & the Imperial Navy provided millions of jobs.
  • Look at what the Heros of the Rebel Alliance would be if they appeared on the nightly news:
    • A drug runner.
    • A religious nut farmer.
    • A treasonous Senator.

All that aside, the Empire was a bunch of male chauvinist white supremicists and they DID deserve to be overthrown.

A New Hope bloopers I found on my own.

  • Lightsaber Shadows:
    • Ok. duh, But I did find this on my own, and they weren't removed for the Special Edition. Sure, I.L.M. could build a computer generated Jabba, but they couldn't erase a few shadows.
  • Stormtrooper Bumps Head:
    • Ok. duh again.
  • Unfinished Trooper:
    • This one is actually pretty good. Look at the helmet of the Stormtrooper who stuns Leia. It lacks the rows of black lines running up the jaw of all the other helmets.
  • Falcon on a stick:
    • As the ship is pulled into the Death Star, the opening into space is outlined with a haze of light. The blue screen rod which was supporting the model of the falcon durin filming causes a break in the light. For some reason this too was not fixed in the Special Edition.
